We stayed here for 3 nights from 12th April. On arrival the reception staff were very organised and we were issued our key and within our room in 5mins, We were in room 53( its on the first floor) which is the adjoining hotel and now part of the Pier I mention this as the heating in this part is on a separate system and comes on at set times so if cold let the staff know. The room itself was large, bright ,comfortable with an en suite shower room and tea/coffee facilities but would benefit from some tlc.
The food was very good with a choice at breakfast and dinner(I loved the poached eggs at breakfast) and dining staff were really efficient.
There was entertainment in the public bar on the three nights we were there with a different singer on each night.
I would certainly return to this hotel.Thank you to all the staff for making our stay enjoyable.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Royal Pier Hotel. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The views from our bedroom window across Sandown Bay was superbe. The hotel offered a good menu with plenty of variety. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others. First Class.
Mr & Mrs Morant

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front of the hotel overlooking Sandown Bay, its brilliant.

Easily situated above the Sandown Pier on the south side of the island, the former royal residence of Princess Beatrix does not disappoint. Expansive vistas from Bembridge to Shanklin and out to the English Channel.

The food was excellent, as were the waiting staff, bar managers, cleaning staff and management. Noting is too much trouble. I had no hesitation in leaving a tip.
Carpeted throughout, regular entertainment throughout the week and one bar open midday to midnight.

Room Tip: The only reason I mark the fitness centre down is because I did not use the indoor heated swimming...

We stayed for 2 nights on the 23rd and 24th of March.

Staff friendly. Room was warm and clean. Breakfast was very good with a generous pot of tea, rack of toast, porridge available as a starter and they made a fry up with vege sausages, which weren't on the menu when requested - fantastic service!

Location of the hotel is convenient for town centre and is right on the beach.

Excellent value for money, would stay again.

Ask for a sea view room.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a sea view

My husband and I stayed for four nights 25th March 2013. A break with Skills of Nottingham. Before booking I had read some reviews that said although a small lift was available there were stairs to some rooms.

I there fore e mailed the hotel explaining our difficulties and asking how much we needed to pay for a seaview in the first floor. I was told they were upgrading the ensuite rooms this year but they may not be completed by the time we stayed. At present the shower is over the bath and the water is fed from the bath. We have never had much success with this type of shower.

On arrival we had a very warm and efficient welcome. The hotel was warm and June the manager had arranged for porterage service., very welcome after a long journey.

All the staff were helpful and friendly. We had waiter service at breakfast and the three course evening meal, which had a good choice of food. Vegetarians would have to inform the management of their requirements.

the room we had was very generous in size, the television is just standard channels but adequate as there is entertainment most nights. The noise did not bother us as I had requested a room away from the noise.

For a budget hotel it was worth every penny and went the extra mile. Well done to all.

The weather was very cold but the hotel was warm!

Room Tip: See comment above. we had room 5. Over the entrance of the hotel, not the Jubilee Bar

We stayed in Royal Pier over a weekend. The hotel is good and well maintained. To make your stay good make sure:
1. You ask for sea facing room. I stayed in room 27, it is good room with sea view. I heard non sea facing rooms are not spacious
2. if you like swimming I would recommend take swimming dress with you
3. Being Indian I didn't liked the food, as it is more british. Though British guests who stayed there shared with us that even they didn't liked the food much.
4. Staff was great except one lady who appeared rather rude to many guests
5. One funny thing is they switch off heating at night and sometimes in day as well. From 7 to 10 PM heating in rooms is off and they say it will turn on at predefined time. It was rather funny for me and really hard for my wife who had cough and cold.

Other wise hotel is good value for money and good staff

Room Tip: Take room 27 and i heard other seaview rooms as well are good.

Thank you for your review following your recent break.

Our heating is on a timer and comes on several times a day which has always been acceptable. During cold weather we have kept it on all day. During the early evening it is off as most guests are downstairs in the dining room.

Our Menu is varied to cater for all tastes and includes curry, stir fry, pasta and vegetarian options, roasts, chilli and fresh salads etc. Our food has always been parised for being exceptionally good, especially for the large numbers of people we cater for.

I am pleased you feel it was good value.
