We arrived at the hotel and reported to the coach company 's rep enquiery that we found the hotel acceptable. We were a little dissapointed in the room on first impressions but as time went on found it clean and maintained that way by staff throughout our stay. The shower was small but there was always plenty of hot water available through a powerfull jet.
The menu for breakfast and evening meal were very good giving choices at both sittings. We found the first waiter that served our first couple of meals a bit of a sad guy but without complaining a young waitress replaced him and she was very pleasant it was nice to see a smiling face(no names)
As time went on we really enjoyed our coach/hotel holiday(our first) and will be booking for the same time next year but it would be nice to have a better room

Thank you for your review following your recent stay. it is an experience when you go on your first coaching holiday, but we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. You can always request a room with a seaview if you were to book again.

We have just enjoyed a two day stay at the hotel. The hotel is well run with all staff we came in contact friendly and helpful. It might be a two star hotel but from our check-in at Reception, the service at breakfast and in the bar we experienced really professional service. Our our room was clean and tidy as were the majority of the public areas but the bar and a few areas are a little dated in appearrance. Good basic breakfasts are provided but perhaps the hotel needs to consider providing fruit juice as wel as cereal not instead of it. This seemed to be the feeling of others at tables near by.
I woul recommend this hotel for a short break. I intend returning next year

We had a good trip to the Isle of Wight and this hotel satisfied our needs for the purpose of our visit to the island. On our first night we did hear several guests in the main bar area complaining about some aspects of their stay. Yes the hotel is slightly dated in places and you would have to be very wary about sitting on the wooden chairs in the rooms (very wobbly) but the location makes up for it as you have access to some really good restaurants, tea rooms and more importantly public transport. What I feel could be improved is the overall customer service in the restaurant just to make the the guest feel welcome on their first visit especially if not part of a large coach party. Only as we progressed to the end of stay did the service at breakfast get better - thank you to Scott.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the Jubilee Bar as the music does carry into the room. Does not help if...

Stayed at The Royal Pier Hotel for the August bank holiday scooter weekend, we took our scooters and the hotel were most accommodating, letting us lock them up on the front veranda. Although the hotel is a little dated, this did not detract from the welcoming ambience, good food and cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were very friendly. Our room was adequate for what we wanted (a base for the weekend) the bed was comfortable, the room pleasant even though we were looking out the back of the hotel, it didn't bother us as it was so quiet. There was a lift which we used once or twice, there were plenty of stairs as our room was on the 2nd floor, the exercise did us good. The adjoining jubilee rooms had entertainment the 3 nights we were there, it wasn't really our scene but we did pop in and enjoy the atmosphere. The rooms were tidied while we ate breakfast every day which was great. The breakfast was plenty to set you up for the day, we had orange juice, full English, tea/coffee and toast, but that was our choice, there were plenty of alternatives if you so desired ( we went with another couple and and of them was a vegetarian which wasn't a problem.) I had read some of the other reviews and was not looking forward to our stay because of these, but we had an enjoyable stay here and would go back again. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel for making our say an enjoyable one.

Thank you for your review following you recent stay.
As you are aware from reading reviews it is difficult to ensure all guests are happy and satisfied, we work hard to ensure we offer friendly and good service but sometimes guests expectations far exceed what they are paying.
We are pleased you enjoyed the scooter weekend and glad the weather was good. I will pass your comments onto the staff.

Just returned from our family holiday at the Royal Pier Hotel IOW. This is our second time at the hotel.

The week was great and the table service from Sherrie was excellent doing everything to make meal times enjoyable supported by great food (Thursdays not the best with chips with all meals an alternative of salad selection is available though)

We had a sea view room on the corner of the hotel which unfortunately was above the hotels extended bar where entertainment for the more mature groups was held every evening until 11.30. This was the only downside of our hotel experience the noise in the room was terrible and vibrated through the ceiling. I did mention this to June (the hotel Manageress) who was actually quite sharp and defensive with an expectation all guests would be watching the entertainment until 11.30. I did state the fact I was holidaying with my family which consisted of two teenagers who like us preferred the outdoors and some sleep at nights. It was obvious my views were not appreciated so beware if you are allocated room number 12 don't expect to sleep before 11.30 and then you may have to wait until the drinkers have left as they will stand outside shouting and talking. Don't bother discussing with June either she isn't interested!!!!. Just to add all other staff working both day and night on reception and bar were very helpful.

Other than the room location had a great stay and holiday - Thanks

Room Tip: Don't select room 12

Thank you for your review following your recent stay.
I will pass on your comments to Sherrie as it is always good to get positive feedback.
I am sorry you feel I was "Sharpe and Defensive" as usually I do my best to be helpful and assist our guests. I find it strange that guests come to a Hotel that clearly states "Entertainment is 7 nights a week" and then complain that the noise kept them awake, it is also quite unusual to have teenagers at the Hotel that want to go to bed early.
I except your comments but as you now realise the large majority of our guests enjoy the entertainment so I am sorry it was not to your liking.

On booking in was asked to pay for my four nights in advance, something I have never been asked to do at any hotel in the past. I should have asked to see the room first and if I had done this I would not have paid for this room. The toilet and shower room was tiny and of the four lights in the room only two worked. The hotel is run down and gets by with catering for coach parties of mainly elderly holiday makers. If you want dinner here you have to state what you want at breakfast and then make sure you attend between six thirty and seven in the evening. A full breakfast is served using canned tomatoes which tells you everything you need to know about this hotel. What hotel anywhere in the UK would stipulate an early half hour time slot for dinner? This hotel is years out of date and should be avoided at all costs.

Thank for your review following your recent stay. It is our Hotel Policy that accommodation is paid for on arrival and that is the same as most Hotels. As we are catering for large parties we have to take the order for the evening meal in the morning to ensure that guests have what they request and also this reduces wastage. Most of them are realistic and accept that. The evening meal times are set to cater for large numbers and we feel confident that the time suits most people. I think part of the problem is that you booked a double room for sole occupancy and perhaps did not carry out any research to establish what type of Hotel we are. Luckily we do not get many bad reviews

Coming to the beautiful Isle of Wight is like taking a step back in time with local shops served by lovely local people who provide a traditional holiday that is unique to England. Fresh crab, fish n chips and barely a mobile signal to be found. The Royal Pier is all part of that.
We were given a large twin room with a balcony that overlooked the sea and a small single room overlooking the rear. Yes the rooms are dated with an avocado suite and melamine furniture that had the surface rubbed away with time. In the twin room there was no shower and in the single room there was just a shower. Tea and coffee are provided but there are no toiletries. A hairdrier can be accessed from the reception and internet access is accessible only in that area via BT Openzone. The beds were OK but they had placed an old incontinence plastic faced sheet on one bed and as this wasn't tucked in properly it wrinkled causing really sharp peaks.( I would have simply removed it and it would have been fine)
The breakfast was OK the service was excellent all round and excellent value for money in a perfect location.
So if you want a boutique up to date hotel this is not the place for you nor is the rest of the island. It felt like a trip to a bygone era with lots of lovely memories resurfacing.
I would definitely return here for a family holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room.

Thank you for your review following your recent stay. We are a 2 Star Hotel, so although we leave soap in the rooms, we do not feel it necessary to leave toiletries. The bathrooms are being updated later in the year as we feel that it is an essential part of our refurbishment plans. We are pleased that you still felt that your stay was good value.
