Stayed here for four days. Great location, good food, great service from all staff, but reception let it down. Bedrooms covered in dust, not hoovered in a long time.Lots of complaints from other guests about rooms. The main light in our bedroom popped, told reception three times. Still not replaced when we left. Come on Carlton you have a lot going for you, but will lose bookings if you don't get it right. I have worked at hotels and there is no excuses for dirt and dust.

Small dirty rooms , staff members are ignorant , The showers are terrible looking like something from the 70's no power shower here its a 40 year old head attached to the taps and dribbles water . told the Hotel manager at the time he wasnt interested . Got bitten by bed bugs really bad, still suffering . Went don to eat and when we sat down at a table the tried to split a group of six up for no apperant reason when we questioned them the waitor threw his arms in the air had a few choice words then we waited 30 minutes before we were served . Food only comes in tiny portions its rediculous to think that they are allowed to get away with this . If it6s comfort away from home this is not the place i could tell you so much more but i havnt got space , dont waste your money .

Room Tip: Dont go to this Hotel ,

There are only two good things to say about this hotel. The service in the dining room and the fact that it is on the sea front.
Food: What there was of it was cold. Breakfast. Chef's surprise:- 9 baked beans, a slice of black pudding cut with a razor blade, mushrooms if small 5 if medium 2
Rooms: Postage stamp size and desperate need of total re-furbishment

Room Tip: Don't stay there

i recently stayed at this hotel, with a large group of 25. After reading the reviews i was very skeptical about this hotel. However, myself and everyone in the group felt that this was a fantastic hotel, very clean, close to all amenities. Staff were great they could not do enough for us all. Rooms were clean, with good security measures, doors locked. Food was excellent good quality hot food.suited all the dietary requirements of the group special diets catered for, good choice and selection. Staff were very assisting helping with luggage to and from the rooms.
We did not find any fault with this hotel at all and felt what the reviews were saying untrue. I would highly recommend this hotel and has group leader would definitely book this
hotel again, as like i said all the group where happy with with the staff service, cleanliness and location. 10/10. Over the years i have stayed in lots of hotels abroad and in the UK and i have got to say this has been one of the best.

Just returned from a third visit to this Hotel, and for those who reccomended a revamp, its happening, stayed in a recently repainted and partially refitted room, and it was all very comfortable, Food was fine, service exceptional. I would say if you expect a jaccuzzi swimming pool, and all the five star trimmings, this is not for you, but for us a great stay again at a reasonable price. Thank You and look forward to next time.

Having read some very bad reports about this hotel, my partner and I arrived with much trepidation as to what we might experience during our 5 day (4 night) coaching holiday. Much to our relief, we found quite the opposite as soon as we walked in.

Arrival: Our bags were brought into the hotel by staff while we sat in the lounge for coffee. Check-in was simple, quick and efficient.

Room: We had booked a double room with balcony and sea-view.

Cleanliness: This was in a good state of decoration with a clean carpet throughout, except for a couple of minor blemishes.

Bedding. Clean and tidy with freshly laundered sheets and pillowcases. Mattress was clean and protected with a mattress protector. Spare blankets provided.

Storage. Plentiful. Modern matching clean units. A three-door floor to ceiling fitted wardrobe with internal shelf and plenty of coat hangars. Ample room inside robe to store empty suitcases etc. Fitted dressing unit with 8 good sized drawers. Two bedside units each with 3 drawers.

Amenities. TV. Tea/coffee making facility, direct dial telephone, chair, comprehensive information booklet.

Security. Main door locked securely. Access by swipe-card. Balcony French doors and windows secure when locked.

Noise. No bothersome noise. At night, the sound of gentle breaking waves on the golden sands below our balcony lulled one to sleep.

Overall. Clean, comfortable and tidy.

En-suite: Small, but adequate. W.C., hand basin and corner shower. Constant hot water, even at busy times of day. Towels and soap provided. Overall well cleaned daily and hygienic.

Dining: Very impressive speed of waiter service. Full English breakfast. Three-course dinner, with 3 choices per course. Excellent food with adequate portions.

Lounge: Comfortable sofas, armchairs and tables overlooking the sea. Large dance floor.

Overall: The Carlton does not profess to be a 5-star hotel. It is a holiday style hotel that offers excellent value for money. (One can easily pay more in some other accommodations for a lot less excellence). All staff very helpful, well presented and very courteous. The hotel is in the process of refurbishment, with more new beds and carpets arriving during our stay. Conversion to digital TV and flat screens are now being installed.

Some hotels on the island have lacked the initiative to invest in refurbishment, ultimately to their own cost of survival. These are being forced to shut down with bailiff in, fore-closure and boarded up as a consequence.

The Carlton clearly is making every effort to give excellent service, quality and value for money. WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN.
