The hotel wasn't as bad as we were expecting. We came from the station and was quite a walk but very pleasant in the sunny weather. The outside of the hotel is falling apart and needs some repair. That was a bit of a shock! The bar area just inside reception was also falling apart. The ceiling looked like it was going to fall down! The staff were very friendly and we were booked in straight away. He also gave us some tips on where to go in the evening - unprompted.

The room was ok. Simple but clean. Can't really fault it for the price. The only major problem was the noise from the other rooms/hallway. We could hear everything that was said next door and children were racing up and down the small hallway outside the room early in the morning. This was made louder by the odd door that was on the room. They need proper doors that go right to the floor!!!! Also think about some sound proofing...

Also the room was REALLY hot. I assumed that the window would be locked as it was a family hotel but I didn't realise until the morning that it wasn't. A fan would have been nice.

Early check out - 1030am. Far too early for us!

We didn't have breakfast but it was cheap at only £4.

If you get a bargain and don't like your privacy, it is ok.

Room Tip: As for sea view - only £5 extra but worth it

This hotel faces straight out onto the sea so the view, if your room is at the front can be good.... mine was out the back so the view was poor. The hotel is very basic and tired looking. The staff are polite and friendly. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds are poor as they are hard. The hotel redeems itself in that it is very cheap so basically you get what you pay for. If you own a car be aware that the parking spaces amount to a total of 5 if you are lucky so don't bank on being able to have one.
I cannot rate this hotel any higher than average given that the less than average quality of the place is lifted by the prices charged. So please don't go along expecting too much.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if they have one.

I stayed at the Tarvic 2 with my dad for 4 nights and have to say that the staff really do make this place. They are warm and welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was good and the room more than adequate. The shower brilliant - powerful and easily regulated. The bar prices are surprisingly low for a hotel. I would willingly return. If you're travelling to Sandown, consider the Tarvic 2.

Room Tip: The rooms on the Tara side of the hotel seem to have been refurbished more recently than those on th...

I was there for one single night. Room was very clean and spacious for one single person. I enjoyed the english breakfast. It was not a buffet one, you have to be seated. The hotel is well located in Sandown, buses stop are very close and you are in front of a beautiful beach.

We stayed there recently on a UK Breakaway holiday deal because it included the car ferry. The hotel looks tired from the outside. Although the meals were ok, meal times are strictly 8.30 breakfast and 6.30 dinner and the service can be a bit amateurish. There appears no flexibility with these meal times and to reduce costs guests are expected to share tables with strangers even though there are ample tables available. There is no off road parking (only parking on first come first serve basis along the outside wall of the hotel) due to building work that does not look as though it will be completed. The room was clean and functional and overlooked the rear yard dustbins that attracted the local wildlife. No evening entertainment even though the hotel appeared reasonably full. I will visit IOW again but have found several hotels in the area that offered better service at no extra cost

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are extra cost but face the road

Visited Isle of Wight for Easter break. I booked this place as I was looking for a sea facing room. From the outset the staff were so unprofessional, they sent me to the wrong room. The rooms themselves were pretty small and old style - as for sea view it was just a door with a glass facing the sea. I was aghast when the door to balcony failed to close, it took some serious engineering to close it and feel safe. The front office is mostly unstaffed and once a cleaner barged into the room without knocking. The walls are so thin conversations from the nearby rooms could be mostly heard - forget the privacy. Overall, I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless you're passing by and just want a bed for the night.
