Well after a 9 hour trip from North wales we got to the hotel.. when we were allocated our room Number 26 the heating was on full blast and the telly was blaring! The sink in the bathroom was hanging off and the shower took a while to drain. The single bed near the window was awful!!! it creaked very loudly so was no good if you were a restless sleeper! so i lifted the matress and it looked like two baby elephants had been nesting on the bed base!! two huge dips in it! At meal times 3 nights in a row we had hair in the food!! so we complained and the waiter just shrugged his shoulders and walked away! Also one morning we had a bug crawling across the table! at the night time when the bar finally opened the girl couldnt understand what drinks we wanted and also one night when the man was serving us his phone rang so he looked at us answered his phone and walked away! left us standing there! and the staff kept forgetting to lock the doors so your room with all of your belongings was left unlocked...
im not going to waste my time writing anymore of this review its not worth my time..
TAKE IT FROM ME THIS IS A HORRIBLE HOTEL AND I WOULDNT RECOMMEND IT NOR WOULD I WISH TO EVER RETURN!!!

Room Tip: Do not choose room 26!

Stayed at the Channel View between 24 and 29 October 2011 on a Just Go Holidays coach tour. The price of this holiday was very reasonable and for the price we paid this hotel was extremely good value. It was spotlessly clean, the food was good (especially the breakfast) and the staff very friendly and efficient. Our room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was old fashioned but I understand they are going to be updated this winter. I don't understand reviewers who have had so little good to say about the hotel. If they had paid 3* or 4* prices they might have something to complain about. The new owners are trying very hard to improve it and I hope people are not put off by the bad reviews.

Stayed at this hotel 10 - 14 Oct and it totally ruined what would otherwise have been a nice trip away. IOW is a lovely island with plenty to see but coming back at the end of a day's outing to this travesty had me wishing to be back home.

The room was so miniscule I took it upon myself to move the furniture around in order to make a bit more space and be able to open the wardrobe door! Slight improvement but not much of one. The bed was like sleeping on an ironing board. The bathroom was appalling, the water in the shower took about 15 mins to drain away and I was constantly worried about flooding the floor. The light above the bed kept going off, usually when you trod on a partular floorboard, which was rather worrying, and it would only come back on if you hit it. There were stains all over the ceiling and it was very shabby and not very clean. Another review states that bedding and towels were changed daily. Well, they must have had preferential treatment as our bedding was not changed for the whole week and I had to go and ask for clean towels.

The food was not particularly good and got worse as the week progressed. In an Island teaming with fields of crops we were presented with frozen veg at every meal and although the quantity was ok the quality was poor. We ate out on the last night as the food was so dissapointing.

The hotel is grossly understaffed, contrary to the information on their internet site the bar is NOT open all day it doesnt open until the evening. There never seemed to be any staff present, no manned reception area and the poor waiting staff in the dining room were struggling to server about 100 guests. Why the heck they didnt make the breakfasts self service I will never know.

Added to all this there was two night's of 'caberet' where the barman/ kitchen helper/ bingo caller had full on showdowns with the management and stormed off in full view and earshot of all the guests. I didn't blame him, If I'd had the misfortune to be employed there I would probably have done the same :)

We stayed at your Hotel from the 10th to 14th Oct 2011, Room 37. Enjoyed our stay very much. The room was small but very cosy, clean and towels and bedding changed daily. I as a smoker was pleased we had a balcony to walk onto for my smoke. The owners and most staff were exceptional at what they did, and the food was very good, although had to wait a while for it. A very friendly and helpful hotel. The entertainment was very good on most nights although 1 or 2 could really be improved. Close to the town which offered most amenities. excellent restaurants, cafe's, and bars. although the area was a bit hilly in parts, and if you have difficulty in walking not a good idea to venture too far. The bar prices at the hotel were pretty good, and a helpful and clean service. All in all, a very good holliday at this hotel for the price. It was a shame that there were so many steps, and no porter to help with the cases to your room. But, we enjoyed our stay so thank you, Raika & Depak... Mr & Mr Reeves.

Room Tip: If you smoke ask for room 37 as there is a balcony, it is quiete and gives a good nights sleep.

We stayed at your hotel from Friday 23rd September 2011 and left on Monday 26th September and we were part of a Just go holidays coach trip.
The food was of excellent quality and the portion size was very generous, the rooms had a cosy and welcoming feel, and our towels were changed daily. The hotel staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is a very good location for the nearby pier, beach and local shop amenities. Would definitely stay here again, excellent value for money.

Had an enjoyable stay at The Channel View hotel recently. The hotel was clean, food was nice with a good choice, staff where very friendly & helpful. Good entertainment, especially the reminicence evening. Bedrooms where clean as was the bedding & towels, however the bedrooms & bathroom were very small rooms [ stayed in rooms42 & 39 ]not much room to move around in.

Room Tip: request a room with a bay.
