We arrived home last night after spending 4 nights at the Channel View Sandown. We found everything to be spotlessly clean, our room no 45 ( a double with new shower etc on-suite new carpets and fittings) was lovely with everything we needed. The evening meals were all very good with 3 or 4 choices each time and breakfast was great with plenty of choice. I really don't know what some people expect to get for their money, we thought it was great value. There were sometimes a few mix ups over meals but nothing drastic at all, the staff are all lovely and very helpful. It was our fourth holiday with Caledonian travel and we would recommend them as exceptional value. Our driver was brilliant especially as it was his first time on the IOW, and he did have a horrendous drive back with roadworks and traffic.

Arrived on 16th July for 3 nights booked via booking. com and found on arrival the bill was an extra £24.
On arriving at the hotel trying to get in past guests standing on the steps and ramp smoking, a bit off putting. Arriving in the reception to be given our keys we were asked to choose breakfast a bit odd, but be aware, you are told breakfast is at 8.30 am no later. The room no 7 was over the entrance so we had smoke drifting up into the room and people having conversations while smoking. The room was small but clean, the toilet moved away from the wall when sat on and the seat would not stay up. All the communal rooms are very poor in decoration and did look tatty. Waiting for breakfast in a morning resembled a doctors waiting room and the breakfast room set out like a nursing home. You are shown to a table and your preordered juice and cereal are waiting for you on the table, at what time these are set up I'm not sure. Full english breakfast was served and was ok nothing special, toast was thin white bread all ingredients appeared to be off poor quality.
The hotel takes in coach parties and they leave early on departure day they have breakfast early so we were also awake early as they moved suitcases around the floor inside and out.
The staff were friendly. Would I stay here again No Thanks

We stayed for two nights as a mixed family 3 adults 1 OAP and one 8 years old.
We received a warm welcome and the place is spacious with some nice features but it is a budget hotel so dont expect plush or all modern.
Three rooms including a triple were all fine and clean, although some issue with a broken light and leaking shower they were okay.
Breakfast is pre ordered so we found that a little rigid but understand and yet it was plentiful and well cooked.
The bar was closed whilst we were there so had to go out in the evening and that was a shame as someone else had our money.
Looks like it does some large coach parties and probably steps up a gear with numbers.
Easy to find and a good location, we parked ok but could see some issue,
So really nice people and would stay again, but £30 PP per night, it what it was was worth.
Great value!

Room Tip: Very small lift for less able, so dont worry about stairs.

We have just returned, having stayed here for two nights during the IOW festival.found the place very clean, tidy and friendly. I can't speak highly enough of the owner, Tina. We had a couple of minor problems, which were nothing to do with the hotel, yet it was no problem for her to sort it out for us. Very impressed, will certainly stay there again. Thank you to all the staff

Me and my girlfriend stay at the Channel View for the bank holiday weekend and was very pleased with everything. The breakfast was nice and had everything you would want at a breakfast! Poached eggs were perfect. The bedroom was big, spacious and allowed a lot of light in, beautiful views of the sea.

The pillows were really comfotable as was the bed and I am usually really fussy about that kind of thing!

Shanklin itself is nice, you can take a stroll down the hill to the beach front where there are all kinds of entertainent for the kids and adults and a few really nice beach style pubs/bar/restaurant where you can sit outside facing the sea.

Will definitely be coming back soon!

Room Tip: go for the premier or premier plus for the views.

I have just spent a weekend away at this hotel. What can I say it cost us £130 per person from Friday until Monday including coach from London and the crossing. Now I was dreading the hotel after reading the previous reviews, in fact I even started to look for another hotel on the way down. Normally I would stay in 4/5 star hotels but as this was a group booking (50 of us) we thought we would at least see what it is like. I will sum it up very quickly, for what we paid I don't see how anyone could moan about the value. The hotel was clean, the food was good and the drinks very reasonable. Sure some of our group had to change rooms because of certain things, but they were all sorted very quickly. So I do not understand other reviews where they are moaning about certain things. You get what you pay for, if you want 4/5 star service comfort then book and pay for a 4/5 star hotel.
