We came for two nights. First impressions of the exterior was really good, but on entering reception you realize you are back in 1970's. Rooms are extremely disappointing but hotel salvidged by its nice pool area and outdoor jacuzzi. Charging for throw away sleepers just irritate.

Great staff, great location, but lets not kid ourselves here, you can't really class an indoor pool with a jacuzzi and an outdoor pool with a jacuzzi a Spa Experience, while being over-looked by the neighbours! LOL If it were raining, a fully booked hotel would not fit in the indoor pool, it had one sun lounger!!!! Bar service was extremely slow during the day due to it being unattended, but the treatments were good. Rooms were clean, bu

t really small.

I am alway sceptical about hotel websites and in this instance I was proved right. Do not believe what you see! The food here was very good and the staff were great. However, this cannot make up of the fact that this hotel is very tired.

Someone needs to pull this hotel out of the 80's. The spa is ok but the room I was in.........tiny, cheap 'pine' furniture, very dated bathroom (avacado suite, tired corner bath, no shower curtain).

Despite the friendliness of the staff I will be avoiding this hotel in the future - very disappointing.

I would go along with many of the previous correspondents but would highlight the quality of the outdoor pool which has the option of a tidal and overhead jet in addition to a fab spacious separate jacuzzi. I expect it gets busy in better weather but i virtually had the pool to myself and it was lovely for a pre-breakfast swim. There is one oddity in that the changing area and showers etc. are across the other side of the hotel and you have to cross the furnished and carpetted bar area in view of the restaurant and anyone sitting in the bar ! I did see some swimmers returning across in dripping wet trunks ... use the bath robes and towels provided (and take some flip flops or buy their slippers). The indoor pool is very small but has a lovely view (if you get a clear day !)
Our first night was in a cramped double at the back but things looked up as we had asked for a twin (at the front) for the next couple of restful nights, which was more spacious. The waiting staff are very friendly and helpful. If you want a change of venue for early evening eating we recommend Bellamy's Bistro in the High Street (fresh lobster & tender steaks, when available, to die for). The Reef on the prom is nice for refreshments and the King's Inn on the High Street has some local characters and competitive drink prices (plus a good terrace view). Other than that there is not much more to offer in Sandown (we didn't get round to trying the Chinese & Indian eateries). The travelzoo offer with dinner on the first night made our stay reasonable value for money.

Recently visited IOW and despite poor weather had a lovely time. Spa staff very good and hotel location and grounds very nice. Restaurant food good and would recommend anyone to visit who wants a few days away in a quiet beautiful place.

We booked a two night DB&B first night and B&B 2nd night inc ferry for £250.

We were upgraded to a spa bath room. Glad we were as I assume the room was a bit larger and nicer. It was clean, but quite old fashioned. Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.

I used the spa facilities, but was a bit strange. lockers right by the poolside and only 2 changing rooms, including the shower within the changing room. I can't imagine how long you could be waiting for a changing room if it was busy.

The service in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was really good, but the food was average. Served real custard (Creme Anglais) with apple crumble in the evening which was really yummy!! I must comment on a young lady who was waiting on durring breakfast. She was very efficent, but I thought she looked rather grubby. The staff were all in black and white, but her blouse was more grey and had never seen an iron. Shame really as the service was excellent and didn't go with the image.

Room Tip: Room 140 was quiet and overlooked the outdoor pool

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights over the weekend. We had a pleasant stay and made use of the excellent faciltiies, which were the highlight. Having both and indoor and outdoor pool as well as an indoor and outdoor pool was exactly what we wanted and we made good use of these as well as the sauna and heat rooms. If there were many more guests using the facilities it might have seemed crowded but okay for about 10 people or so.

With breakfast, one evening meal and the car ferry crossing included in the price I would recommend this hotel to others. A 10 minute walk from the pier and beach through the town centre was more than acceptable.

The staff were very pleasant although we had to wait a little while for a drink at the bar while dinner was being served as the barman was also looking after drinks orders from diners.

I would recommend this hotel to friends and there is a lot to do in the area and within driving distance.
