I thought this was going to be one of the better hotels in Sandown. Not really! We asked reception about car hire & were told they couldn't help. Excuse me! A hotel who won't help with car hire? All they had to do was look in the phone book. Later in our stay my husband asked if he could look at a weather web site as we were flying back in a light aircraft & wanted to get up to date weather. Again we were told they wouldn't help. Not a very helpful reception! The rooms were very dated. If you like chintz & white formica this is the hotel for you. That said, the coffee & tea were plentiful which was good. All in all an OK hotel but wouldn't go again. Old fashioned & unhelpful.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night with our friends. We chose a superior room which was on the ground floor. Our friends booked a standard but were given a family room which was very spacious. Our room and bathroom were very spacious. On arrival the reception staff were very relaxed and friendly and showed us to our rooms. The breakfast was cooked well and amble choice. We did not have dinner in the hotel but walked into Sandown (just a few minutes). We would definately recommend this hotel and come back again and hopefully stay longer to try the Spa.

Myself and a friend were in need of a weekend break. By chance we happened upon an offer for the Melville Hall hotel. We booked and took our chances. We were not disappointed.
The service at Melville Hall was pleasant and efficient., staff were attentive but not obtrusively so. The waiting staff provided a relaxed yet professional service resulting in an enjoyable dining experience. The food was of good quality. The chocolates offered with the after dinner coffees served in the bar were divine!
We found our room to be very clean and comfortable. The linen and towels spotlessly clean and fresh as was the ensuite bathroom; the fittings were modern and well maintained.
The hotel is situated in very pleasant grounds and overlooks some rolling hills; a view that can be experienced from the indoor pool and jacuzzi. It is very well situated for the local railway and we had a pleasant drive down from Cowes.
Our view could have had a broader vista and less obscured but this did not really detract from our overall enjoyment.
All in all we came away very relaxed and refreshed and would definately return to the hotel again and recommend it to others.

Melville Hall Hotel was our base for a short break in I of W. The hotel building has great charm being modernised to excellent standards and situated a short walk from the beach in a quiet part of Sandown. It has a Spa and indoor/outdoor pools. The staff are charming with old-fashioned courtesy. The food was freshly cooked with immaginative dishes. Our break was tremendous value - the hotel even negotiated a major discount off our ferry crossing. I would strongly recommend Melville Hall

We had a wonderful break at Melville Hall. From booking in to booking out the staff were so helpful and hard working. The food was absolutely amazing and our compliments to the chef. We managed to get a great deal so did not know what to expect but our expectations were more than exceeded. Rooms were nicely furnished and had everything you could need, we even had a spa bath in ours which was great. We have already recommended this hotel to friends and family and we will certainly return again, hopefully very soon.
