Absolutely loved the stay!! It was a last minute booking which my partner booked through Steve the same day for the stay!! He accommodated us & even placed us in a room with a Beautiful view looking onto the pier & beach with a very comfy bed!!

If you have The breakfast option, you have to go to Barnaby's across the road which is fine but you will be very limited on the choices of what you can have.

Yes I agree it may need some updating decor wise in the rooms but it certainly didn't put us off! Everything you needed was in the room & if you need anything extra most shops required are within walking distance from the b&b.

We most certainly will be looking to stay here again!!

i found the montpelier on the internet and chose it because it was affordable, close to the beach and the owner, steve, replied immediately when i got in touch with a booking request etc. turns out i made the right choice. steve was exceedingly friendly, came to pick me up at the station, dropped me off again (even driving the long way round so i wouldn't have to carry my bags downstairs and upstairs again!), printed a couple of things out for me, etc.

the room was clean, though it may be in need of some touch-ups here and there. but it had everything i needed - desk & chair, coffee table & armchair, plenty of drawers & a closet, hairdryer, even a fridge with a jug of milk, and steve was kind enough to switch the heating on outside "regular" heating hours, when he knew i was in, and particularly while i was, unfortunately, ill.

and i wish i could have taken the view home with me! when i was sick for a few days i was especially pleased to have the sea, birds, people to watch from my bed or the cosy armchair by the window.

english weather let me down for the first time ever (it was a loooong, cold winter, extending well into april), but i was still out and about a lot, which is where the bus stops round the corner came in handy. the indian round the corner had great food, and breakfast across the street at barnaby's (incl) was good with friendly service. i hope to be back some time when the sun's out a little more to enjoy the beauty of the isle of wight.

Another fantastic stay, very warm welcome from the owners. The whole hotel is very well maintained with a very nice homely atmosphere. Very clean through out and nothing to much trouble, if you are visiting sandown i would recommend this hotel.

Once again we had a lovely stay at The Montpelier. Sandown has a lovely beach for strolling on in the Autumn months as well as for sunbathing in the summer. The bus stop is located just round the corner and handy for visiting other parts of the island. Theres a Sunday market in the High Street, the Zoo is a short walk away and Dinosaur Isle too. We shall definitely be going back there.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good. Theres a fridge in every room, the owner even provides a bottle of milk as w...

A warm welcome, the room was comfortable, especially the bed!!! Everything needed was in the room already, even down to a jug of fresh milk in the fridge. Plenty of tea & coffee as well as shower gel & soap. The shower room was exceptionally clean and fresh as were the towels. But the real bonus was the fantastic view looking over the pier and beach, Will stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Room with a sea view

Warm welcome, clean & tidy if a bit in need of TLC. Decor dated and in need of attention, but overall would stay again. Barnabys restaurant for breakfast handy and accomodating with friendly staff. Cant cook poaced or scrambled eggs, bacon undercooked swimming in baked beans and tasteless tomatoes. Tea was good though. Would willingly pay more for a decent full English breakfast.

Parking a nightmare at weekends in high season.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms have the view.

we stayed for 1 night at short notice, the owner was very friendly and made us fell welcome, the family room was very big which is nice when you have children with you, there was plenty of tea and coffee and the breakfast was very good, we will stay here next time we have a break on the island.
