I popped in for some information and Joanna on reception couldn't do enough to help me. She went the extra mile and even lent me her personal mobile to make a call. If the rest of the staff are as good as Joanna then anybody who chooses to stay here should be very happy.

Well, after the reviews we read we must say that we expected something different.
The public areas of this hotel are not too bad,
it is mix of some kind of old english, nautical, wooden interior,
the exterior and the gardens are nice but you not gonna sleep there, dont you?
The double bed was actually made from two beds!,
to sleep on these beds take some courage - imagine to sleep on jelly...
On the middle of the bed, right above our eyes was a string to switch on and off the light which is very usefull but not very romantic or decorative,
You need magnifier to watch the TV,
The toilet was difficult to flush away and you need to wait loooooong time to use it again and was very nosiy.
We never saw a shower like this before (please see our picture about it),
all night you can hear water dropping from it,
there was no pressure, it was blocked from limescale, you cannot move it, so how you can use it without staying dirty in your intimate parts of body?
if you would like to take a shower better to prepare yourself and forget to wash your hair ladies and btw the hairdryer was checked last time in 2003 (11 years ago!!!),
the breakfast was on our table (with our names! written on a piece of paper) after 1 min. becaue was probably made around 05:00AM (and just waiting for us on the plate?), absolutely tasteless english breakfast ever!
What was ridiculous for us after reading the hotel manager's reactions here is the fact that they are using roughly 2-3 prepared answers to every negative reviews, writing in a general manner only, never trying to get specific like some robotic answer machine...

This was an unbelievably cheap stay in a pleasant hotel-but a bit souless. Rooms basic but comfortable, but like the 'Marie Celeste' when it came to staff visibility and interest in customer service. This was seriously lacking. Although courteous on demand, the person charged as the manager did not appear to achieve the best from staff - appearing to be more stick than carrot and not a very good hostess-not even a good bye or thanks for staying, but a continuation of conversation with a friend in their own language that we didn't feel compelled to interrupt! We could see the hotel had so many selling points but these were not capitalised on and may have been the reason for poor occupancy! With a background in premium hospitality, we could have done a much better job, and did with the few customers we did see! The company needs to invest in better management.

A superb hotel in a great location. The Parkbury is a throw-back to the golden age of cruise liners, each room with its own nautical theme. The hotel abounds in wood, much rescued from old ships apparently. From the car park it was not clear where we had to go to find reception, luckily the bar door was open so we managed to gain access. The main hotel entrance is on a different road to the car park. My room was excellent, nothing missing! I had been given a double room instead of my booked single which was a good gesture by the reception staff. The bed and breakfast package was superb value for money with a three course breakfast offered each morning, served at sensible times as well. We chose to eat in the hotel restaurant on the first night but the room lacked atmosphere so went elsewhere on subsequent evenings. I would like to have been able to greet the staff by name but unfortunately only one member of staff wore a name badge at any time during the week, that was Andrew the Duty Manager on the last morning. The other staff who looked after us in the dining room etc every day were wonderful, the lady with black hair and the young man who ran the breakfast service were always helpful and considerate. Please thank then on my behalf. I would definitely recommend The Parkbury to anybody planning on a few days on the Isle of Wight. I will certainly be returning.

Great location, easy to find. Nice old fashioned place. Rooms and all areas lovely and clean although we did hear the female manager on at the staff quite a lot and unnecessarily very rude to them. Staff do work hard to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Grounds kept nice and love the building itself. We would return but recommend the Manager (Ushar) goes on a man management course. Could do with a lick of paint and general TLC especially pool.

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at our Hotel.

The hotel boasts a wonderful location and delighted that the staff worked hard to make your stay enjoyable. We are aware that we have area in which the décor is due for an update and we will continue to address these areas.

With regards to your comments regarding Asia the General Manager these will be noted although I do assure you she works very hard to try and ensure the smooth operational running of the Hotel and I apologise if she came across unprofessionally.

I do hope you would consider staying at The Parkbury in the future and thank you for your valuable feedback.

Kind regards
