“Full of Character, charm and cheerful staff!”

Yes, the Parkbury is like staying at your Granny's (decor a little dated)- your Granny always made you welcome did she not? Young staff, very cheerful and helpful-a very happy stay. Pool beautifully warm! Shower pressure rather poor-but a very clean hotel. Happy days and nights at the Parkbury. We would recommend a stay at The Parkbury.

Why don't hotels look after the small details that would make a stay more pleasant? Things like - no lock on the bathroom door, shelf missing above the sink, coffee cold at breakfast, and probably the most annoying - no hot water at 9 o'clock in the evening. We didn't pay a lot through Lastminutecom so can't complain about value for money but this hotel could be so much nicer if a little was paid to detail. Room was rather shabby too.

had intended using this hotel as a base for sightseeing but checked out after only one night. All areas of hotel in need of a face lift, wallpaper hanging off wall in public areas, bedrooms very old fashioned with poor shower facilities. The outdoor pool totally unusable due to dirt on bottom of pool. Had expected hotel to be set in large landscaped grounds when it was in fact situated in a busy main street with very little ground or outside areas in which you can relax. Only plus is staff very polite

I realise that this is an old hotel but surely the decor could be updated. The pool hadn't been cleaned for months - this was the main reason I decided on this hotel. The brochure gave an image that this hotel is set in its own grounds but it was on a main road and could be anybody's front garden. The room absolutly stank! Once the smell of disinfectant and shake and vac wore off the whole room, especially the bed smelt of vomit. I stayed the one night and put a towel over my pillow and hardly slept a wink on the very hard bed. I checked out and didn't stay the whole 3 nights that I had booked and went to a different hotel. How this hotel has managed to achieve a 3 Star rating is beyond me - perhaps I should change my career and become a hotel inspector, I wouldn't even give it 1 star!

When we arrived the hotel did seem abit dated with a very old feel about it but we were really impressed by the staff both on reception and during meal times. The rooms were again alittle old fashion but fine for the length of our stay 2 nights). The food was of good standard, quickly prepared and served by friendly waiting staff who were happy to accommodate 2 children who have limited taste in food. The entertainment was a male singer who sang songs we had never heard before but the company was good so we stayed in the bar til late, it is definately a case of what you make of it. We felt the hotel wasnt brilliant but better than some and well located, we could easily have stayed longer.

We booked this hotel for a weekend break with 6 friends. The hotel website is rather deceptive, and the reality is very different. We couldn't check in until 3 pm, something we were not made aware when booking. The room was quite dingy, the bathroom was small and not very clean, particularly the shower tray. For some reason the heating was on in the bathroom - being the middle of June I don't think this was necessary and the room was very stuffy as a result. The receptionist on departure was rather abrupt and patronising. The breakfast room was quite dirty, particularly the chairs, and the breakfast was appalling. There were several flies buzzing around us at the table, the full English breakfast was over cooked and wimming in fat. The toast was so well done, it was hard and tasteless.

The only good things about this hotel was its proximity to the sea front, however, this did not make for any of the shortcomings above.
