Blairgowrie Holiday Park
Reviewed 16 March 2013

Just back from a fantastic 4 night break staying in the luxury lodge The Larches in Blairgowrie Holiday Park. From travelling through bad snow we reached Blair in good time to find the sun shining and the snow not as bad as we had feared it might be. We got into our Lodge early which was great and my 4 year old daughter loved the play park on site. There are 2 play areas - one for younger kids - a play boat and another park up beside our lodge which is probably for older kids. As our stay was out of season in March, the holiday park was very quiet. Now the lodge - was just perfect. Huge space, very comfortable and very well kitted out with everything you could need. I forgot my coffee maker and there was a coffee pot in the lodge which was my godsend!

The living area was lovely and spacious, with a dining table and very good kitchen. The heating was great and we needed it as it was so winter like! Two bathrooms, one with bath/shower and the other with a walk in shower unit. Bedrooms comfortable with good wardrobe space. Washing machine and dishwasher in the kitchen too, all cooking utensils etc of a very high standard.

The hot tub was amazing too! The guy's onsite came and showed us now to work it and they came along every morning to clean it and make sure it was all working as it should be.

The accommodation was very clean and fresh - have no complaints at all about any aspect of our stay at the holiday park. Having a great lodge made the holiday special as I was staying with my parents and my brother - so we all had plenty of room and enjoyed eating out for my mum's 65th birthday at a lovely restaurant in Blair called Little's.

Blairgowrie has plenty of shops, cafe's, restaurants and take-away. We had a chippy take away delivered to the lodge from Peking Palace. the walk along the riverside was so lovely in the sunshine, although freezing!

Good location to visit Perth etc, went to scone palace which was worth the visit and has a good maze there, as well as a shop/cafe and kids play area.

All in all, this was a fantastic family break away and I would recommend this park. It is very quiet with nothing on-site (ie no club, shop etc). The reception is open throughout the day and the staff are very helpful in recommending places to eat/walk etc. There is a scotmid store just 2 mins walk from the holiday park which was ideal, just down Hatton Rd.

We saw lots of rabbits around the Lodge, along with lovely birds and also red squirrels eating from the bird feeder of the neighbouring Lodge.

Thank you for a lovely break, I do hope to return again!

Lodges here are ideal for short or long stays. We stayed at the park in Feb and had a really relaxing 5 night break. As 2 couples sharing the accomodation we had plenty of room and also enough privacy. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms meant that we had our own private areas whilst enjoying the comfortably furnished longe and kitchen. The attention to detail provided by the owners is excellent. Everything you need is provided and obviously much thought has gone into getting thinks right to make your stay comfortable. The lodges still have a brand new feel and are well set out in a quiet corner of the park, meaning very little passing traffic. The lodges, whilst the size of a small bungalow, are very roomy and we felt that we could quite comfortably live there. The storage space is extensive and well designed, bathrooms are luxurious and the heating system keeps an extremely comfortable temperature all through. As a skiing break we were well set up for the drive to Glenshee. Having looked at various accomodation options before opting for this lodge we all felt that we couldn't have chosen better. We may have been able to be closer to the slopes but the accomodation wouldn't have been bettered. For location also, 0.7 miles to Blairgowrie gets you access to all the town including a large Tesco with petrol, shops, pubs and restaurants. I couldn't suggest any improvements to this accomodation as everything seems to have been thought of. Price compares well to other places and we will definitely be wanting to return. OK just for balance 2 things - wi fi could have been slightly better and a couple of dishwasher tablets would have been handy, having taken some with us and a dongle it wasn't a problem. Almost forgot, the site staff, really friendly and helpful. If skiing check the hire shop opening times and mention your stay before booking skis to get a discount. They make you feel that nothing will be too much bother.

Room Tip: Check the website for park and lodge layout to suit your needs.

.. That is the one word for this holiday park ..

The Park is the best place to be if you want a calm & relaxed holiday.

We stayed at the Larches Lodge a few weeks back - totally equipped with kitchenette, dishwasher, washing machine et al .. a most comfortable & pleasant stay.

There are a few good eateries very close by so you have the best of both worlds - either cook @ home / be out for meals.

I would definitely recommend to all !

Have just returned from a short last minute break at Blairgowrie. I telephoned on the afternoon I was intending to travel on the off chance of accommodation rather than go into a hotel as planned, Melanie offered to check all of the accommodation at the different parks and called me back with an offer of a Firs lodge for three nights. Although it looked good on the website I really could not believe how wonderful the lodge was. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and in such a lovely spot, I still cannot believe my luck with this choice. Yes, the lodge is less than a year old but even so it has been used throughout the summer not that you would know that by looking. Spotless clean linen and soft towels, everything you could need was provided. I was concerned about the cold but the lodge has full central heating which seemed to be on 24hrs so it was as warm as toast. Even the launderette was heated. The park itself is well laid out and very clean and tidy, there is even a dog walking route to the side. Definitely hope to stay there again next time I am in the area.

Room Tip: Caravans and lodges, pets are allowed in some but not all.

Stayed at Blairgowrie holiday park for a long weekend in February 2011. The Park is well looked after and maintained throughout. The caravan is well looked after and has everything you need. Although all caravans have WIFI that you need to pay for but don't bother as the connection is rubbish and the internet takes 5 minutes toload google, not good. The staff at the park are very friendly and helpful so would highly recommend the park.

Blairgowrie itself is a strange little place. Went to the information centre for some info on walks in the area. The lady was very friendly however the walk she recommended us was rubbish. It ran through a council estate which was a tad strange to say the least.

We where also recommended another cycle route but again a strange recommendation as it was uphill on a road all the way to a ski resort. She told us that we should drop in to the Caley Bridge Inn on the way past and they would happily give us a little more "local" info on the walk but they were unfriendly to say the least. It felt like a scene out of The League of Gentleman.

I would highly recommend the park as a base for walking up the Cairngorms but there is NO decent walking routes in Blairgowrie and the locals look at you like your an alien......weird

Thank you for taking the time to review our holiday park at Blairgowrie. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the park and the caravan holiday home you were staying in had everything you required. We were not aware that there were issues with the internet connection on the park. If you had raised the issue with caravan connect during your stay, they would of been able to help with your slow connection speed.

We will pass your comments onto Visit Scotland regarding the local tourist information centre. It is very disappointing to hear that they did not give you help and advice on some of the beautiful walks and cycling rotes around Blairgowrie. In the future, please ask at reception and we will be more than happy to help as much as we can with local information.

We hope to see you again at one of our holiday parks!

Myself and my family (2kids) stayed at this park over the summer in a pinelodge. The accommodation was superb.Spotlessly clean and up to a very high spec.Home from home. The park was well maintained and is in a great location for seeing the best of Perthshire. The staff were all very friendly and polite. Will be going back next year for the summer holidays.

Having just returned from a week at this park I regret to say I would not Return .The park its self is a lovely laid out with lots of shrubs and plants. But unfortunately the toilets althougth clean were very dated and showers poor. The park advertises as being a family park - there is very little for children to do . The play park is on a steep hill, the slide is unsafe and the sand is dirty and unmaintained, children over age 8 have nothing to do- no ball games- keep off grass with bikes and no putting green as advertised.

We are pleased to say that since 2008 the park has received a number of extensive upgrades throughout and now it is a 5-star graded park by Visit Scotland as well as a winner of the Certificate of Excellence Award by TripAdvisor users. We welcome you to come and stay at one of our quality caravan holiday homes, well-appointed and spacious lodges, or come along with your own tourer and take one of our fully-serviced pitches.
