Party of 4 walked the trail at the end of May over 5 days; starting at Bridge of Cally, completing the circular part of the walk and then on the last day walking from Bridge of Cally into Blairgowrie and then out to Alyth on the alternative route. The scenery, countryside and route exceeded expectations. The route is probably the best waymarked long distance path that we have walked; we took maps & guide book but never had to refer to them for any route finding. "Undiscovered gem" - over the 5 days we did not see anyone else walking the trail, in fact we didn't see any other walkers. Some might say the lack of others walking the trail is an attraction - I think it is a shame that such an excellent route, that has clearly had time & effort put into making it easy to navigate, is not enjoyed by more. We based ourselves at Incheoch Granary - an excellent holiday let, on the route, which we would highly recommend. Used two cars for transportation to start/from finish of each day as public transport was not an option - the only minor issue we had with this was parking in Bridge of Cally where options were limited.
Anyone thinking of walking this trail - go do it!!
