“Excellent accommodation and very helpful hosts”
Reviewed 7 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Excellent accommodation furnished to a very high standard and yet homely. Not a "do not" list in sight! Although the cottage is only 2 bedrooms it still felt spacious. The hosts were very helpful and so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, The heating and hot water was more than sufficient which can be hard to come by in some establishments. The cleanliness of the cottage was 100%, perhaps due to the fact Julie & John take care of this themselves. We woul certainly return to this property.

“Beautiful, peaceful and comfortable place to stay in the highlands”
Reviewed 7 December 2013 for a stay in September 2013

The accommodation is very well appointed and has an excellent outlook over the highlands, exceptionally peaceful and relaxing place to be, and then you the opportunity to venture out into some fantastic scenic country side without even using the car. Overall a really great place from which to enjoy the central highlands.

“A superbly-eqipped holiday rental.”
Reviewed 2 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed at Sundowner for the last week in August. A warm welcome on arrival, together with a good bottle of red and a loaf of fresh, home-baked bread was a great start. The entire property is well thought out and presented, a genuine 'home-from-home' with all the touches you hope for - but rarely find !? 5/5 - if we visit the area again, we will not hesitate to re-book Sundowner..

“Perfect Holiday”
Reviewed 22 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Julie and John were very helpful when we were booking the cottage and very accommodating to some slight changes we wanted to make. When we arrived there was a welcome pack of freshly baked bread, milk and a bottle of wine which was wonderful (not forgetting the fresh raspberries, home grown potatoes and homemade jam we were also given during our stay). The cottage was clean, tidy and beautifully, but simply, decorated. Our double room was very warm and comfortable and our two children were very snug and cosy in their twin room. Both bathrooms were clean and modern. The kitchen had everything needed to cook for a family and again was very clean and modern. Wi-fi was also available. The location of the cottage was excellent with lots of cycle rides and walks (and lochs for those brave enough to swim in) within easy reach. Kingussie, the nearest town was within walking distance and it was only a 10-15 minute drive to Aviemore. The cottage is situated in a quiet location with space outside for children to play (there is also a table tennis table in the garage which was great for rainy days). We had a wonderful holiday with our two children (aged 12 and 9) as there is so much to do and it is such a beautiful location. I would recommend this cottage and a holiday in the Cairngorms very highly indeed.

“Everything you could possibly need..............except a clock!”
Reviewed 6 August 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Stayed in Sundowner for 1 week in June. Lovely and clean. Everything you could possibly want for the week, particularly as far as the kitchen goes. Quiet location. We spread ourselves out a bit in the bedrooms as there was just the two of us (sorry Julie!) but cottage would certainly be comfortable and roomy for 4. Loved the birdbox camera on TV. Watched the hatching of starlings and their progress over the week. First job after a day out was to put the TV on to check on them! Had a lovely warm and informative welcome from Julie when we arrived and fresh bread and wine awaiting in the kitchen. Only thing we missed was a clock in the lounge/kitchen area but that may well be addressed. Yes, I know we were on holiday but we play a lot of board games and need to keep an eye on the time otherwise we forget to eat!! Would definitely return if we wanted to visit the Cairngorms again.

“Home from home”
Reviewed 2 August 2013 for a stay in May 2013

This was our second visit to Sundowner within six months which says it all. You can be guaranteed a warm friendly welcome to your spotless, well equipped accommodation. Within munutes of your arrival you feel totally relaxed and at home. The property is in a lovely rural location, close to Ruthven Barracks but within a few minutes drive of Kingussie town which has a wide range of shops and amenities. We love the area with so much to see and do and I'm sure we will be back...........can't wait!

Beautiful surroundings, spotless accomodation with all you could want on hand, friendly and attentive hosts, fresh air by the bucketfull. Fabulous place for relaxation (but plenty of activities nearby for those that want) we just keep going back - it's like our second home!! Look in the guests notebook and you see so many people who just keep going back year after year (or more!) - that tells you everything.
