“Home away from home”

Ruthven House is the definition of a perfect B&B. Charming, friendly hosts, a warm, welcoming room and a truly great breakfast. On our three-week tour of Scotland, this was without doubt our favourite spot and was so nice, we extended our initial one-night stay to 2. We would have stayed a month with Alistair and Bobby if we could.
We were welcomed with an umbrella as it was raining on our arrival, a hot cuppa and Scottish shortbread. The huge room had a lovely outlook and a giant bed with everything you'd expect plus special little touches like a brimming sweet jar, quality toiletries and fluffy towels.
I also need to take a moment to discuss the all-important breakfast. After travelling for 4 months staying in B&Bs, we've had it all, from stale croissants to powdered eggs and pale, sad-looking bacon. So you can imagine the individual fruit platters, the home-made fruit compote, the cheeses, cold meats, croissants, home-made jams and to-die-for creamy scrambled eggs with smoked Scottish salmon were a welcome surprise and kept us going all day.
It turns out Alistair and Bobby have a band called Bobby Jean and the Scots Boys and were like Scotland's version of the Beatles, someone in a local museum informed us. We think that if they weren't famous for their music, they definitely should be for their lovely, friendly B&B.

My wife and I have just returned from spending a few days in the north of Scotland, and found Ruthven House by chance, when on the way home. Having intended stopping at Aviemore, we were unable to find any suitable accommodation, and continued south via Coylum Bridge and Insch, to find Ruthven House in passing.
First Bobbi, then Alistair, went out of their way to be sure that the room was to our liking (even gave us a choice of two!), then invited us for a cup of tea, and introduced us to their other guests. Despite this being a first visit, we were greeted like old friends and made to feel very much "at home".
The bedroom was large enough to have a king size double bed and two soft easy chairs for relaxation. Also the large bathroon was spotlessly clean, and our three windows ensured an excellent view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The residents' lounge always had a kettle "on the boil", for a cup of tea or coffee at any time.
The simple little touches, in furnishings and toiletries made this truly a four-star B&B guesthouse. The friendly hospitality of Bobbi & Alastair made this a truly memorable visit .......keep up the good work and Good Luck for the future. We will surely be back.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Ruthven House for one night during Easter weekend. It was by far the best B&B I have ever stayed in. The hosts Alastair and Bobbi were so welcoming, friendly and really made us feel at home. We found the B&B by chance when another one in Kingussie was full, but it really exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was amazing with so much food and selection.

The welcoming hosts and the breakfast make this B&B well worth the stay!
