Enjoyed one night here for birthday celebration. The room, Chantilly, was beautiful, with stunning views over the town and sea. Only 10-15 minute walk to sea/town. Very friendly owner, made us feel very relaxed. Breakfast very good, including warm croissants and nice selection of teas. Couple of things could be added to improve the room - hot chocolate sachets and complimentary shower cap!

My fiance and I stayed at The Hampton's in February 2014 to celebrate our engagement and the six year anniversary since we met. It was excellent from start to finish. Each room is different, but we picked the Chantilly room, which was more like a small suite! The four poster bed was really comfy and the bathroom, with its free standing bath, was luxurious. Breakfast was delicious (I was offered veggie sausages as I made a note when booking that I was vegetarian) and Paul, one of the owners, was really friendly and helpful.

There's a pantry on the top floor for all guests to use which was great, as we used the fridge to chill some champagne when we went out for dinner. The driveway is steep, but there is plenty of parking on the road at the bottom and we left our car there most of the time because spaces at the top were full. There's a big cabinet full of DVDs in the lounge which you can use whilst staying, which we thought was a great idea. One of the owners is an interior designer and that's apparent as soon as you step through the door of the hotel, as it looks amazing throughout. In fact, I took a few photos for inspiration for when we buy our first house! Before I forget to mention it, the price per night was fantastic value for money too.

Would highly recommend driving out to The Rock at Georgeham - great menu and lovely atmosphere if you can get a table in the conservatory. Also, the 50 minute drive or so to nearby Clovelly is a must, especially on a sunny day. It's one of the most breathtaking places we've been to (not just in the UK either). Woolacombe bay is also nearby, about 10 minutes away, so definitely worth a trip as the beach is beautiful. Also, Giovanni's & Luca's is a great italian in Ilfracombe if you fancy a nice pizza or pasta dish and the small aquarium is fun to visit.

Room Tip: Can only comment on Chantilly, as all rooms are different, but judging by the floor plan it's th...

My husband and I are just back from a return visit to the Hamptons for our 1st wedding anniversary. The Hamptons holds many special memories for us & with my birthday & our anniversary so close it was lovely to celebrate both for a couple of nights. We stayed again in the Chantilly room which is opulent & stunning, felt relaxed from the moment we arrived, just like on our wedding last year. The free standing huge bath tub was to die for & I could of spent the majority of the visit relaxing in it! Lovely breakfast & vege option on offer. The owner was away but lovely friendly people looking after while he was away. Ilframcombe was a friendly place to revisit & we enjoyed many conversations with lots of random people! Can't wait to revisit on future anniversaries.

One, short nights stay as a couple for a wedding at Tunnels Beaches.

Service:
Due to coming for a wedding and not arriving in Ilfracombe until just before the wedding, we checked in quite late. Paul needed to step out but kindly left the key in a safe place outside so we could let ourselves in and essentially check-in in the next morning.

Room:
Rococco Room.
Nice size with boutiquey decoration. Very clean and nicely done.
The bed mattress is very firm which is excellent for me.
Small flat screen TV which is a little reluctant to change channels but works fine.
Full length mirror, coffee and tea facilities.
There a standing fan in the room, so I assume it gets hot in summer.

Bathroom:
Small, but very clean and with a walk in shower that is big enough rather than just squeezed in.
Shower gel and shampoo available.
Fluffy towels.

Location:
A 5 min walk downhill from Tunnels Beaches.
A 7-8 min walk to the High Street with all the shops.

Breakfast:
Cooked breakfast to order. Tasted and looked good.
There are juices available, croissants and cereals for self-service.
Cafetiere coffee.

Additional:
Free WiFi, with good reception even in our room which was in the corner of the house.
Lovely old house which has been finished to a high standard, is clean and welcoming. It looks and feels like either it was refurbished recently or is meticulously maintained.
Umbrellas are available for guests at the front door, as are torches!
The driveway up to the house from the road is quite steep and has a very sharp bend in it. Beware if visiting in winter! Sufficient parking in front of the house but the road outside the house is also free parking.

Summary:
I would have no reservations recommending The Hamptons or staying here again. Paul is very approachable and an excellent host.

We stayed in the beautiful “Chantilly” room, on a Thursday night at the end of August - great views from our bay window, exquisite bedroom decor and opulent bath tub (bring a candle for extra ambience!)
The room had all the modern facilities, the Wi-Fi was fully operational and the bedding was to die for (best Egyptian cotton I have come across in a B&B!)
The B&B owner was very friendly and directed us towards a coastal walk, to the village of Lee, where we had a tasty bite to eat in the local pub – don’t forget to carry a torch if you plan to walk back at night!
Egg Benedict for breakfast was tasty and the portion just right.
Would definitely recommend it!

The Hampton's Hotel is situated in the beautiful village of Ilfracombe, the hotel is on top of a steep hill so the views of the sea and hills are fantastic. There are so many positives about this hotel but I thought for the price you pay it is important for people to also know the negatives.

Positives:
-Lovely, welcoming staff
-Good breakfast
-Beautiful room with great views
-Very clean with special touches
-5 min walk to the centre of town
-Your own key to the front door so there is no time restriction on coming back from a night out

Negatives:
-Limited parking
-Steep hills to walk home
-No lightning on the drive at night whilst walking up the steep hill to the hotel front door, trips/falls could easily happen
-The shower in the room was either freezing cold or boiling hot
-The bathroom toiletries were not stocked up upon arrival
-The toilet seat would not stay up (for the man)
-Very thin walls so you can hear people in the next room and they can hear you!

These are all minor negatives that can be easily adapted, we had a really lovely stay and the service we received made up for everything else. We went for a wedding at tunnels beach which was stunning, if you are going for a wedding there too I advise you to wear flats and pack your heels in your handbag as the hills are very steep! Enjoy.

I stayed here the eve of my wedding at Tunnels beach in October 2012. I arrived with my mum and friends. it was extremely relaxing before the wedding and after a lovely meal out in Ilfracombe i relaxed in the huge free standing bathtub. I stayed in the Chantilly room, which was such a good choice as many brides have pre wedding photos, what a beautiful backdrop this was to all the photos. The owner was great i had an amazing vegetarian breakfast on the morning of the wedding. Then the videographer, photographer and make up artist arrived, we were the most relaxed bridal party ever, everyone commented on how there was no stress and we were all so happily relaxed. I think the relaxed beautiful hotel setting contributed to this, the room had stunning views as we all took turns to have our make up done sat in the bay windows. When returning in the early hours with new husband he was also impressed with this boutique hotel. The location is very close to tunnels beach so perfect as wedding accommodation. We will definitely come back and stay for future wedding anniversarys, must book soon cant wait to visit again its now a place of such amazing memories.

Room Tip: Chantilly, stunning backdrop to any pre wedding getting ready photos.
