“Great luxury ladies weekend away!”
Reviewed 20 October 2012

Beautiful luxury log cabins with hot tub. Very clean, very quiet site, lovely pub just off site with great food. We had two 6 bedded cabins next door to each other both were slightly different but very modern & comfortable.
Bus stop just on main road took us straight to ilfracombe so great if you don't want to drive. Also one of my friends came down by train arrived into Barnstable then there's a bus that drops you directly outside mullacott park.
Even the weather was good no complaints at all!! Great weekend!!!

We are not be able to recommend Mullacott Park to others with children. We are from Germany and have been camping in many places with a son aged 13 and daughter 10 but we know about the wetter in England so decided to book cabin and guest hotel. This is not a good place for children there is nothing for them, no swings, no toys, no swimming pool, no tennis and the cabin inside was very nice like new. There are 2 play fields. One is on a hill so not good to play with a ball. In the other field a farmer was making food for the animals so tractors were there and not so safe, but also to far from our cabin and we could not watch the children.
There is one shop which close early and when we return from exploring in the early night time the shop is not open we then need to go in to a town to eat or buy food. When the children are wanting to rest this is not good. All the roads in the cabin park are very thin are not safe for the children on bikes. We spoke to the people and they said the seaside was a good place for the kids also this is 8 Klm away so not so good.
Our cabin was like new and smelt very good when we arrived we were very happy. I can see this is a good holiday for old people who want to sit around or just drive to places. We want to drive but also stay there for the kids to play. I give a middle rating because the cabin was like new inside and gets a good score but the kids could not play so this is the bad part of the score.

Room Tip: Book a cabin overlooking the big play field so the kids can be watched when outside.

I think I should have checked google maps before booking Mullacott Park. The site is situated right beside the main A361 bringing all of the traffice from the M% motorway to a roundabout around 200 yards away. We had a small lodge that was immaculate inside and Devon is a great counti for repaxing, BUT..the road noise was unbearable as our bedroom was around 6 feet from the main road with constant noise. The decking could ouly be used if you wanted to take in all the fumes from the cars, trucks and busses passing!! Also the decking was totally in the shade.

I would recommend going to the beach in Croyde and Woolacombe which are just perfect. Ilfracombe beach is small but just right for a family and access to everything in the town is right there. Try the Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe, you will be amazed.

I only give one star for the lodge site at Mullacott Park but Ilfracombe and sourounding areas get 5 stars. I will come again to this area.

The Park and Lodge

We stopped at Mullacott Park in a VIP lodge. Firstly the lodge was massive, 3 bedrooms, 1 family bathroom, en-suite to the master bedroom and an open plan living/kitchen space. There was only 2 of us but easily 6 adults would fit nicely! The lodge was clean, modern and spacious. We had amazing views and it was peaceful and quiet. There is a pub on the site but slightly over priced on drinks and food. There is also a little shop and a cafe/coffee shop. The reception staff were most welcoming and always there to assist if needed!

Location

The park is located in between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Although we took a car, we mainly used the local bus service, which runs right passed the park. The buses are reliable and a reasonable price. The buses ran to Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Barnstaple, Westward Ho and many other places. We would recommend a visit to the Ship and Pilot Pub for a pint in Ilfracombe and the George and Dragon for food! Also a lovely tea shop called Dolly's. Woolacombe has amazing clean beaches! The village just a short drive from Mullacott is Braunton, again a lovely little village, must visit Squires Fish Shop!

Would we go again and would we recommend, most definitely! We booked through Hoseasons and had a good deal!

Room Tip: We had lodge number 6!

A group of six of us stayed in a Mullacott 3 Lodge over the course of a weekend. A really nice lodge with everything that we needed. Felt really clean and comfortable. Hot tub was great touch and definitely worth the extra little bit of money.

If you fancy an evening out in Ilfracombe and don't want to drive, a six seater taxi costs about £10 one way as definitely not in walking distance. Only issue was most definitely location.

Definitely recommended though, and we'd happily go again. We had a great time.

just returned from a weeks stay at Mullacott Park, in all a good time was had by all as I travelled with my family including elderly mum ( who managed the few steps to the lodge quite well) and grown up kids + two small dogs. The lodge was to a decent standard although the carpet was quite dirty in the entrance hall but perhaps not all dog owners previously staying were as house proud as we are!! Our time in the area was really enjoyable and the park offered a good base to stay. Didnt have much cause to bother the staff but they all seem very willing to assist. After reading the reviews on the pub on site we decided not to give it a go but we did have a lovely home cooked meal at Halle Billys just a short drive away, not the cheapest meal I've had but you pay for what you get and it was really lovely. If I was ever in the area again I would consider revisiting, great place to take the dogs with a nice fields for them to have a run. I would reccommend the park if you're looking for somewhere "nice" it's definately not the best place I've stayed in but I'm sure there are a lot worse. For those who dont expect 5* luxury it's well worth a go, I'm one of those people who has quite high standards and likes nice things but I had a good time and would go again so it must have been ok.

Mullacott was quiet and very relaxing. There's nothing much on the site - a decent shop and coffee bar and lots of lodges. It's worth pointing out that the lodges are very close together so your'e unlikely to get a view of anything other than another lodge!
It's situated on a quite a busy road and Ilfracombe is just 10 minutes away, you would probably get some road noise if you were in one of the lodges that were nearer the road.
The surrounding countryside is really nice and you could walk to Ilfracome along a track from the site-weather permitting! Our holiday was seriously affected by terrible weather but we still managed to get in the hot tub which was really warm and relaxing. The pub next door is actually OK (it's had lots of bad reviews) - the food is slightly pricey but decent and the beer is pretty good. However, for a really good meal, go to Hele Billy's - a bar/restaurant in Hele (just out of Ilfracombe on the main road) - lovely food and good prices. The lodge was clean (we thought) , comfortable and well equipped although we got a shock when we stripped the beds to leave - the 'mattress protector' on the bed was really dirty - yuk! Overall though, pretty good - typical Hoseasons standard.
