A friendly family run business right by the harbour. We were made to feel very welcome. Plenty of choice at breakfast and the food was top quality. Also they do evening meals and this was delicious fayre and all locally sourced. Highly recommended.

The hotel is ideally situated, the owners are very friendly and they make you feel welcome. The food service was excellent and the quality of food was very good. Our overall experience in this hotel was exceptional shall be looking forward to returning next year. Chris and Tina Wolverhampton.

Well, we don't know much about B&B's so thought we, along with our 6 year old son would have a holiday in one! We think we made a great choice, the personal service and environment are distinctly different than when in a hotel. The property itself has heaps of history and as you would expect is a bit quirky in places where things have changed over the years.

In terms of location one thing you have to realise about Ilfracombe is that it is very hilly, you can't go far without meeting an awesome incline! The great thing about Harbour Lights is that it is possible to walk straight out of the door and to the harbour, the beaches, museum and seafront attractions without having to consider a hill climb! The harbour area is very popular and up and coming, especially with local patron Damien Hirst (the famous artist) having his restaurant, shop and cafe there, along with the Ilfracome RNLI Lifeboat Station.

Our room was clean and tidy and perfect for our needs, yes the decor could do with a little updating but it didn't distract from our comfort as the bed and bathroom linens were good quality and pristine. The pub almost next door can get a bit noisy on a Saturday night for their karaoke but to be honest we found it hilarious rather than annoying and the windows did a good job of shutting them out anyway.

As for food, well breakfast was perfect everyday whatever we chose, and the bread they use is just lovely - we definitely over-carbed ourselves on it! Everything cooked just perfectly every day and just the right size. The dinner menu is somewhat limited but rather a refreshing change from page after page of options, definitely check out the specials and if lobster is on the menu, you will be unlikely to find a better deal. They cook it beautifully without a sauce, just a pot of melted clarified butter to dip in and really bring out the natural flavour. We know they are fresh local lobsters as on request Steve showed our son the live lobsters when the girl brought them in - I will post the picture on here!

The only recommendation we have would for there to be a little fridge in the family room we had, it really would be very useful for a family.

Overall, when you consider the location, time of year, service and that a table service cooked breakfast was included every day, Harbour Lights offers a great deal and we thoroughly enjoyed our week in Ilfracombe. Always important is that Steve, Ruth, Nick and all their staff made the holiday memorable for our son and it was such a nice gesture of them to give him a gift of clotted cream fudge when we left - naughty!

We would recommend calling Harbour Lights about a booking rather than using a booking website because they can help you out with things like parking and other advice ;-)

Room Tip: Give Harbour Lights a call before booking online :-)

The hotel is in a great location and we received a warm welcome. We stayed in room 1 which was clean but in great need of a make over. The bathroom was a good size or would have been if the toilet wasn't in its own cubicle. The ceiling was made up of tiles I would expect to see in an office with the shower rail held up with string to the tile supports. There was a poor choice of refreshments in the room and the water bottles were not replaced once we had open them. We dined there for the 1st night the food was ok but be warned the half board menu as a poor choice and you can end up paying a lot more to upgrade. Despite this we had a good time and it was cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.

The hotel (Harbour Lights) is a small family run hotel it is lovley and right by the harbur. we even had our own sitting room with a TV. Mmmmm and fresh local line caught fish, lobster, and squid beautifully cooked at the hotel. Which is exceptionaly clean. We went to ilfracombe as an almost last minute idea after staying at Torquay and Dorlish. I f I had known what a warm genuinly friendly local people were there; we would have spent all of our holiday at Ilfracombe. Im not sayiing Torquay or Dorlish is not welcoming, but Ilfrracombe is just so much more so.. Morris dancers and the best real ale pubs in England , locals who talk to you and let you know whats on and where to go. Yes very friendly genuine people. See you all again SOON ! ! ! Room Tip: Iv clicked swimming pool and Fitness centre by accident. But if they had one it would I am sure have...

Room was bright, clean and comfortable. Ruth was an excellent hostess. Her son took my case to my room, thank God cuz I was on the third floor. You can park right outside (a couple of spaces) between 6pm and 10am which was really handy. Breakfast was lovely and not the fat inedible sausages that you usually find. Fantastic value for money, would definitely stay again.

We have just spent a week with the team at The Harbour lights in Ilfracombe. This small (10 rooms!) Guesthouse is comfortable both day and night (really good beds!) ALL the staff are Pleasant, Personable and Professional. The Restaurant is sooo well run by Ruth and Nick and the Kitchen produces food to Die For! Steve creates a dish just the way you would like to be able to do yourself. The menus are imaginative and yet straight forward; what you get is exactly what it said on the page - Gorgeous Food, Great People - HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED - we will go and stay again in this great value accommodation
