“The Gold Standard of B&B's”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Excellent B and B for ilfracombe and north devon,we have stayed here with Marrianna and David many times now and would not bother looking elsewhere when in the area! There is a amazing breakfast menu with a great choice and always beautifully cooked. The room was very spacious and eveywhere immaculately clean everything has been thought of here to enjoy a wonderfull stay. Delicious home made biscuits left every day for guests in the rooms along with tea/coffee making facilities and fresh milk too! Easy access to public transport if you dont want to use the car which can be left in the Coastal Fringes car park. The hosts are superb and could not meet a nicer couple they also have great knowledge of the area, with walks and drives written onto sheets for guests to use and follow, nothing was too much trouble from these helpful owners,Exellent value too for such a very high standard B&B. Hope to return again soon

Room Tip: "Joan Fontain" room which was spacious but they are all first class we have been in them a...

This B & B has a good location with parking just a short distance from the centre of Illfracombe. There are only 3 rooms - we stayed in the Joan Fontaine suite which contains memorabilia related to the actress. The room was very spacious and clean. The hosts, Marianna and David, were warm and welcoming. Suggestions for walks in the local area and details of other attractions in the Devon area were also provided within the room. I have to say we were a little disappointed with the breakfast - whilst there was an extensive choice the breakfast order had to be placed the day before. I can understand why this is done but personally I would prefer to choose on the day. Also, it would have been good if the cooked breakfast had included some locally produced bacon or sausage. Nevertheless, a good value B & B.

Thank you for your review. Your comments are important to us. However, we would like to respond to your review. Firstly we felt that your marking was very harsh at the end of your review when compared to your written review which by in large was very favourable. Also at the end of your stay we asked you if everything was to your satisfaction, you replied "Yes it was lovely" so how come the very harsh scores. We also feel that you should mention anything you are not happy about to the owners of an establishment first, in order that they can rectify a problem, if there is problem, or for them to give an explaination to a practice adopted by the B & B before going to trpadvisor. Remember you are dealing with someones good name and livelyhood. You mentioned the bacon and sausages in the English Breakfast. We can assure you that they are locally sourced and are not cheap catering rubbish. We do not cut corners with our food. Coastal Frnges does not promote itself as a luxury or a boutique B & B. We are just a good honest seaside B & B where we care about out guests and try to help them to get the most out of their holiday in our beautiful corner of the World

Marianna and David were the perfect hosts throughout our stay from welcome on arrival to the goodbye at the end. We stayed in the "Joan Fontain" room which was spacious, comfy and quiet and had everything you could wish for, books, magazines, DVD's, puzzles and games. The homemade cookies added to this lovely stay. Food was excellent and plenty of it. Very helpful tips about Ilfracoombe from Marianna helped too. Five minute walk to centre, bus stop outside and parking for your car. Would highly recommend Coastal Fringes.

Room Tip: All three rooms excellent.

We stayed for a few days at the end of August at Coastal Fringes, and we feel it provided everything that was expected in a top of the range Boutique hotel, super room and en suite, lots of extras in the room for example toiletries and information about the area. The breakfast menu had am extensive choice and was cooked to perfection. Marianna the owner knew lots of information about the area which she was hapopy to pass on. Wonderful stay, and we can recommend it,

Stayed at Coastal Fringes for 3 nights in the Joan Fontaine Suite. Beautiful room, very comfortable. Those little extras were very thoughtful from face wipes to home made biscuits, DVDs, books, magazines. Nothing was too much trouble. Even had local walks available and printed out for you. Breakfast fit for a king. Will definately go back. Would most certainly recommend.

We stayed for four nights in the very elegant Gene Tierney Suite which provided everything you would expect in an expensive hotel. The breakfast menu choice was extensive and delicious setting us up well for each day. Marianna and David's local knowledge is encyclopaedic. We had a wonderful stay and so will you!

Room Tip: If the Gene Tierney Suite is available book it quick!
