Description: The Quay restaurant in Ilfracombe is home to a unique and substantial collection of Damien Hirst's works. The classical fronted building has been beautifully restored and now relates well to the stunning views out to the Atlantic and the traditional harbour of this ancient port. Exmoor Angus beef served at The Quay has been bred within a few miles of the restaurant, and the Lundy crab and lobster is delivered on a daily basis by the fishermen who catch it just a few miles off shore. With a wine list to delight the heart of the average oenophile, and a stellar selection of West County cheeses and home-made desserts on the menu, The Quay is a genuine treat for discerning food and art lovers alike.

Very pretty quay with a lovely atmosphere. Interesting to see Verity statue by Damien Hirst here. Had a glass of wine sitting outside Damien Hirst's restaurant, great. Lots of restaurants and also an art gallery. Definitely the best part of Ilfracombe.

Took family for lunch here and was very disappointed. Seafood bisque soup was thin and salty, certainly not the same dish it used to be here, having had it many times previously! Tuna Nicosia salad was 14 pounds, surely an actual tuna steak was to be expected, seemed like either tinned or old dry tuna. Greek salad was a bowl of red onions and the pasta vongole had a thin flavourless sauce. Bit of a let down all round.

This place was fantastic when it opened and I have had many fantastic meals here. However, today's experience suggests a steep decline in standards. On the plus side, coffees were great as always! Next time will go the Masons......

We ate here with two friends a week ago. Our table was next to the window in the Atlantic Room overlooking the Bristol Channel, in a room surrounded by original art (Damien Hirst). Just love the ambience of the room (inside an upturned boat hull), especially in the evening when the sunsets can be stunning.
We had just two courses and not a lot of drink but this was not an issue to the staff.
We were the first table in the restaurant and this may be a risk as atmosphere can be lacking but it certainly wasn't.
Adjacent tables soon filled up and the restaurant was buzzing later.
We will be back!

Lovely location and design, feels like you're in a boat looking right at the sea.

Service friendly - not always very professional but nothing wrong with it.

Food good, although probably better for meat/fish eaters - the veggie mains were not very inspired and a bit heavy. Definitely worth a visit.

We were a party of 6 under the name Stokes on Saturday 5th July 2014. We had an excellent table with a beautiful view of the sea. The food was exceptional. We were served by a very well informed waiter (unfortunately we didn't get his name) He answered all questions we had and described the wine we requested perfectly. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and surroundings. I had the risotto which was delicious and my Fiance has the Ribeye...which he hasnt stopped talking about. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant and 100% returning in the future.
