I am bemused by the 'poor' reports I've read - the food is modern and superbly presented. Frankly, if you want cod and chips go to a fish and chip seafront café. This restaurant is about a culinary experience - good ingredients cooked simply but very well indeed. Good food is about high quality - not 'pile it high and sell it cheaply'. I loved this experience so much I booked again for two successive nights before I go home. If you only ever 'splash out' once on a first-class meal go to the Gendarmerie. If you have any sense of taste at all you won't be disappointed.
