We stayed at the Epchris Guest House in April 2014 for a friends wedding in Ilfracombe. There were 4 in our party and we booked a double and superior room for two nights.

From booking through to check-out, Nicky and her family couldn't have been more helpful.

The guest house is a short walk from the main stretch of bars, restaurants and things of interest, so was perfect for our two night stay.

Our room, the superior, was massive. With a double bed, bedside tables, sofa, chest of drawers, en suite and mini fridge. There was also a single adjoining room with desk and wardrobe.

The breakfast was excellent. Plenty to choose from and no dietary requirement too much touble. Nicky told us that all food is sourced locally from butchers and farm shops, and you could really tell the quality. They even provided some Gluten free bread with no issues.

They have some lovely gardens on a steep slope which features an outside heated pool and some pygmy goats! Nicky let us go down and help feed them one morning after breakfast.

There were some lovely touches at the guest house, including nice toiletries, an honesty bar (which you write down what you have and pay at the end), and plenty of in-room facilities like kettle, crockery, glasses etc.

We would definitely stay again at the Epchris if we visited Ilfracombe again, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: A superior room has more space, a sofa and a fridge.

Have just returned from staying at Epchris house and cannot fault it. Nicky was helpful and welcoming to everyone. Beautiful house in a beautiful setting, and nothing was too much trouble. Room was lovely and welcoming and comfortable. And breakfast was a feast. Thank you for a fabulous stay and we can't wait to return.

Stayed here for a friends wedding at the tunnels. Beautiful spacious room, very clean and comfortable. Nicky the host was wonderful and very welcoming. The breakfast was excellent plenty to choose from. The honesty bar is a nice touch and the gardens and views are amazing. It was a shame it was rainy and we didn't get a chance to enjoy the outdoor pool! Would highly recommend this place to anyone and if I'm every in Ilfracombe again would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Epchirs House last weekend for our wedding and occupied all 9 rooms for our family and friends.

We chose the Epchris House as we found Nikki to be extremely welcoming and very helpful from our initial introduction.

The rooms provided us with perfect options to suit all family and friends and were all finished to a modern and contemporary feel. The venue was very relaxed and informal and also provided an "honesty bar" which was a lovely touch and allowed us to enjoy one or two drinks together!

Nikki made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived and nothing was too much bother, it felt like home from home which was perfect for when you are getting ready for a wedding! Nikki was also an extra pair of hands to take photos of the bride, father of the bride and bridesmaid when all other guests had left which we very much appreciated!

As we occupied the entire B&B Nikki was able to put all tables together to allow us to have breakfast as one large party together which was a perfect touch.

Thanks to Nikki and family for making us all feel very welcome and we look forward to visiting again soon!

Kind regards

Lindsay and Ian Spence

Room Tip: There are a few premier rooms which are a little more expensive but are lovely.

We stayed here for just one night and loved it. The location suited us as it's really peaceful but only a short stroll to the town centre ........ it's on a slight hill so the walk back is a little bit longer. We had a lovely room on the top floor, which was large, airy and very comfortable. The bathroom was also large and had a bath and a shower and a good supply of fluffy white towels as well as a cracking view over the gardens and the town ......even a trip to the loo was a pleasure !
There's a super little sun terrace (shame it was raining ) a pretty garden and a pool as well as a couple of goats. There's a well stocked bar , complete with 'honesty book ' so you help yourself, pop it down in the book and pay when you can , and the prices are good and are about what you'd pay in the local pub .
The décor throughout is simple and uncluttered but Nicky has managed to find a few quirky ornaments and accessories which pop up in unexpected places which seem to reflect her lovely welcoming personality. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to acquaint ourselves with the three dogs but as we've booked to go back for a couple of nights next month, I'm sure we'll be introduced to them and possible manage to dip our toes in the pool !
Nearly forgot..... the breakfast is pretty good too so we're looking forward to it already and I think our return visit will be the first of many as we'd have to go a long way to find another little treasure like this !

Stayed for a family wedding at Tunnels beaches in the family suite, amazing little 'gem' of a find in Ilfracombe. Nicky (host) was wonderful and lovely throughout, the hotel itself is great, spotlessly clean and the grounds, gardens are beautiful. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a home from home!

We had a spacious, light and airy room which was very well equipped and comfortable with a big bathroom, a seating area and a terrace overlooking the town. The establishment welcomes dogs which would concern me if there were any traces in the rooms, or any smell, but everything is immaculately clean. It was my husband's birthday and we found a bottle of bubbly in our room which we happily drank on the terrace. Breakfast was excellent - including my veggie option. The friendly and helpful owner clearly works very hard to maintain this high standard and deserves all the praise I see on this site. We wish her every success.

Room Tip: If available go for the Garden Room - lovely
