A meal at 71 was suggested by the owners of our regular B & B in Ilfracombe so we thought we'd give it a try. We thought the food was excellent - we both had the lobster risotto - but our enthusiasm wore very thin by the end of the evening thanks to what we saw as very poor customer service. We had to repeat our request for a bottle of wine and then After we were served with dessert we would have liked the chance to order coffee. But the one young member of staff seemed desperate to lay tables for the next day (service seemed to stop at 8.30 pm) and would not meet my eye so I could ask about coffee or indeed the bill. I think the manager was in the restaurant but seemed more intent on paperwork than most of the customers. She did pay a lot of attention to a group of rather loud locals who were having a meal at another table.

My wife and I visited this small family run restaurant in June 2018
The food was the best we have had for a very long time
My wife had crab ravioli to start and monkfish wrapped in palms ham on a bed of lobster risotto. I had the fish cakes in a tomato and basil sauce and roast chicken in a mushroom sauce on a a bed of mashed potatoes with asparagus
A bottle of Pinot Grigio
The bill was £63
Worth every penny

Managed to book a table at 71. We shared a starter of baked Camembert and it was lovely to be offered more toast to go with it. We both chose fish dishes for our mains and these were perfectly presented and cooked. Sadly we were too full to try desert. This is a small family restaurant, you never feel rushed as they manage their bookings carefully to make sure that you have a relaxing meal. The service was friendly and professional and unobtrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and wouldn't hesitate to return.

We had not booked but the waiters were really accomodating and we were able to sit down.
Lovely meals, would recommend the surf and turf and the lamb with shepard's pie. Both amazing and so glad we went.
