We have just spent a 2nd visit at The Towers Hotel in Illfracombe,Tricia and John are the perfect host's our room was spotless plenty of storage space nicely decorated ensuite shower with toilet, tea and coffee making facilities in the room we had a room with a side view to the harbour and a direct view of the countryside so nice to wake up to each morning. Then there was the breakfast fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt and fruit juices followed by a choice of cooked which you picked on the menu the night before all cooked fresh with a choice of brown, white or mixed toast with tea or coffee what a good start to the day.On the recomendation of Tricia we payed a visit to a new restaurant just off the harbour called Relish it is run by 2 New Zealand ladies we both had starters and then a Pizza each that were to die for well worth a visit. We will definiately be going back to the Towers again next year i know we wouldnt be able to find a better location and host's that like to talk to you and interested in what you have been doing with your day.Thank you both very much for making our stay very enjoyable see you next year.

Room Tip: Room no 7 with a large bay window looking directly to the sea and harbour, and no 10 with a side view...

If you stay anywhere else other than the Towers while visiting Ilfracombe, you will have missed out on a treat – what a place; fabulous!

I arrived to see a grand three story home with a turret which overlooked the Bristol Channel. Before I could finish climbing the stairs to reach the front door, it suddenly opened and Tricia was there to welcome me, calling me by name!

I had room #6, which was for single accommodation. The room was not ensuite, but had its own private bath directly outside the room, and a key if you wanted to lock it. The room was small but beautifully appointed with two walls of windows overlooking the Channel. The room had a single bed, wardrobe for clothing, a small chest of drawers, a nice wicker chair to sit in, television, and a wash basin. Coffee was also provided in the room, just in case you wanted it. The bath was the cleanest I’ve ever experienced in all the hotels I’ve ever stayed in. In fact, if I didn’t know better, I would say the bathroom had been installed just that day – it was that clean! Shower was quite large and boy, that hot shower felt wonderful. Also, for the U.S. visitor, there were washcloths provided!

The bed was extremely comfortable; pillows just right. An excellent night’s sleep was had, as the room was virtually soundproof, and then in the morning the view from the window was glorious.

Breakfast was great, and was held in the lovely cozy dining room. There was a choice of menus. The full American breakfast consisted of sausage, bacon (in the U.S. it would be considered Canadian Bacon), toast, poached egg, sautéed mushrooms, and grilled tomato. Also you had your choice of cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea and a variety of juices. Breakfast was included in the room rate.

No elevator, so those with luggage, be prepared to climb the steps. Tricia will assist, however, she’s a wee thing, and I would feel guilty about her lugging my heavy bags and breaking her back especially since I was the one responsible for packing those bags.

There is also a lovely sitting lounge across from the dining room with a small bar (honor system). In the lounge is a television as well as several books for your reading pleasure.

Overall, this was a wonderful, wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend it and when visiting Ilfracombe again, wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

Thank you for your comments and we were glad to read you were pleased with the location and enjoyed the breakfast. We know the en-suite is on the small side but unfortunately, given the layout of the room, it is not something that can easily be changed without major rebuild. We were disappointed that you felt the house looked tired. We continually strive to refresh and update areas of the house inside and outside every season, within a budget, whilst still also trying to retain the character of an old Victorian house. We thank you for your feedback and accept that it is not always going to be positive but we take these comments on board and try to improve wherever we can.

What a wonderful Guest House; we've stayed at many and this is by far the best!

We were greeted by a lovely and welcoming lady named Tricia who showed us to our room and gave us details about the local area.

Our room (room 3) was fantastic. It was large, very clean and tidy, nicely decorated and had everything we needed and more. There were two chairs infront of the large front window that allowed us to sit and stare at the wonderful views towards the harbour. There is also a smaller window to the side with views across the fields and houses. The en-suite was fresh and had complimentary toiletries and there wasn't even a speck or smear on the mirror - everything was so well maintained!

After a good nights sleep we went downstairs to breakfast in the very 'homely' and spacious dining room where we were once again greeted by Tricia. She showed us to the fresh fruits, cereals and juice to get us started and then she brought our main breakfast to the table that we had chosen the night before (I recommend the smoked haddock and poached egg. Delicious!) Tricia was very helpful in giving information about the area and things to do. As we were travelling to Cornwall for the morning, Tricia was happy to suggest a number of places to visit on the way there/back - nothing seemed too much and she was an absolute delight to talk to.

There is a small bar in the lounge but we didn't use it because we were out all day. The lounge looked welcoming and comfortable, though.

We spent two nights at The Towers and we could find no fault in it. Our breakfast, both mornings, were wonderful: fruits and cereals, mains with plenty of toast, jams, tea and/or coffee.

Both of us look forward to going back again; hopefully very soon!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 and it was perfect.

We stayed at the towers for 3 nights and it was fantastic. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. We stayed in the top tower room and the view was amazing, you could see for miles. It was lovely waking up to that view every morning. The room was nicely decorated and very clean as was the bathroom. The owner Tricia was very friendly and so helpful when it came to deciding what to do and where to go. It was the best b&b i've ever been to and would thoroughly recommend to all.

We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our trip despite the very wet weather. Breakfast was freshly cooked with a good range of options, the en-suite room was spacious with a lovely view to the harbour. The only downside is the uphill walk back from town but it was only 10 minutes or so and not too challenging with a comfy bed to come back to!
