“A very comfortable and attractive apartment with superb views”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

On the Rocks lived up to the reviews we had read. The apartment is beautifully furnished and fronted by 2 floor to ceiling windows which give rise to fantastic views of the coastline. It is also very conveniently situated for Ilfracombe and the surrounding area. We had wondered what our 2 teenage girls would make of Ilfracome but they really liked it. There is a good range of restaurants and, coming from a large town, it was great to see so many independent shops. We would definitely recommend it.

Liked best: The views and the beautiful furnishings in the apartment
Liked least: The bed was a bit soft for us and we didn't get the wine and chocolates that had been mentioned on other reviews?

“Fantastic sea view apartment in great location”
Reviewed 1 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We booked this apartment based on previous reviews and it didn't disappoint. The owners have equipped the apartment to a very high standard and everything was spotlessly clean and seemed brand new. The sea view from the floor to ceiling window is stunning. Having a parking space is definitely a bonus in Ilfracombe where parking is limited and charges are high. It is just a few minutes walk to the High Street and a few more to the harbour but it helps to be fit for the return journey as it is all uphill! The only thing which could make the apartment even better would be a king rather than a double bed in the main bedroom.

“Exceptionally clean and a well equipped apartment”
Reviewed 13 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed at this apartment for a week during September. The booking arrangements were administered very efficiently and professionally.
We found the apartment to be exceptionally clean and well equipped. The linen was crisp and clean too. Care has been taken to style the decor to a high standard with a nautical theme. Chairs were comfortable and free WIFI is provided. A real bonus is a car a parking space at the rear of the property because Ilfracombe is quite hilly and if shopping it is necessary to take the car.
The Apartment is ideally located for the town centre (which we liked very much) and for the harbour; all about a brisk 10 minute walk away and a 15 minute walk back.
There is a lively theatre in the town producing varied entertainment. We saw Othello live streamed from The National Theatre, which was just wonderful. The 'Tunnel Beaches' are about a 20 minute walk from the apartment. If you enjoy walking there are a variety of cliff top walks to do.
Also you can take a boat trip to Lundy Island which takes 3 hours but this trip could be a bit rough if there is a howlie blowing!
As the apartment is so well furbished we were surprised it only provided a standard size double bed (4ft 6in.) which is a pity as all the other furnishings are top notch. That said this bed was very comfortable. We would have liked the opportunity to arrive a bit earlier and leave a bit later than the terms of booking allow; 30 minutes earlier and leaving 30 minutes later would be better. This apartment is probably not suited to people who are infirm or for those who use wheelchairs.
We would happily stay here again

“Bright”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

when we first arrived the entrance hall was rather musty and not to clean. We then entered the front door and what a difference. The appartment was very clean bright and modern. nice pictures and ornaments with a seaside theme. The childrens room was particularly attractive. Nice touches were the complimentary Lindt chocolate and two little bottles of red and white wine. The complimentary biscuits were also nice quality. The view was just right. A small field in front with 7 sheep in it. then a sea view. really nice to wake up with a sea view. All in all a good place to stay. And the bed was comfy.

“Beautiful apartment with gorgeous views and decor”
Reviewed 26 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Jim and Lynn

Thank you so much. We've had a lovely stay at your beautiful apartment. It's a really peaceful and idyllic location with a lovely view and you made us feel very welcome with your arrival drinks and chocolates! We must compliment you on the decoration! Also you've thought of everything with your well stocked cupboards and drawers of books, games, DVDs and of course local brochures. We hope to be back again and hope you have the availability for us!

Many thanks again!
