“Wonderful warm and fuzzy feeling holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

We returned yesterday from a week at swallow cottage. We were greeted with smiles and cup cakes and felt the tension immediately drop away. Myself, my husband and my son of 13 months enjoyed daily animal feeding with Jeremy and Elizabeth. All guests going off together just before breakfast to feed the pigs, chickens, turkey and many more, added to a community feeling that felt as if you were visiting family. We hadn't had a holiday in over a year and this was the perfect location to relax and forget about the world. Waking to the beautiful views all around and sleeping in the millions of stars as night, and all of the above made our stay magical. Highly recommend anyone with children or if you just want to hide away from the busy world. This is one holiday we will hold in our hearts and go back again and again.

Just returned from our first (but hopefully not our last) visit to Widmouth Farm. We stayed in Kestrel Cottage which is a 2 bedroom. We only required one bedroom but it was decided with three dogs it might be a bit cramped in the other cottages. The owners provide a stair gate which was very handy to keep three inquisitive Terriers down stairs. Towels and throws for the dogs are available for the dogs for a small charge. We also had our own little courtyard which, again, was very handy for the dogs. We didn't take part in any animal feeding as it was just the two of us, but we did watch lots of very excited children having fun with the guinea pigs and other animals. Everyone staying there was very friendly. This is our favourite spot in the country for a holiday as the beaches are very dog friendly and there are some wonderful walks in the area. Local fish and chips are really fresh. I have to say that after 40 years of holidays together, this is the first one my husband has come home from and not complained about the pillow!!! He actually said it was about as good as his own and he slept very well. We have every intention of returning. Thank you

Just back from two weeks in Martin cottage - The farm is in a wonderful site on the coast, with Ilfracombe and Coombe Martin within easy reach. A great spot for a family holiday with a range of attractions and historic sites, picturesque villages, and open countryside nearby. The cottage was ideal for the three of us (Two parents and 4-year old) and our little boy loved the experience of feeding the animals and exploring the fields (so did we!). Thanks to Jeremy and Elizabeth for a very special holiday site and a warm welcome.

Location exceptional / Hosts very welcoming / cottage just big enough for myself and grandson / daily animal feeding was wonderful for the children / very good base from which to explore North Devon - if you can tear yourself away from the farm and private cove!! Many thanks to Elizabeth - we will definitely be back for a longer stay next time.

Room Tip: Robin and Wren cottages are close to 'orchard' where you find the swings/slides.

What a great place to recharge the batteries, beautiful scenery and great places to walk. An ideal base for a dog friendly break. Stayed in Robin was small but had all you needed.
One small grievance the electricity meter made a lot of noise when trying to sleep, but the walking and fresh air helped.

Thank you for the review and the feedback. We did not realise there was a problem with noise from the electricity meter, so appreciate you telling us and we will get advice from an electrician - if that doesn't give a suitable answer we can build an insulated cupboard around the meter.
We also appreciate that Robin is a small cottage and it does say that on our website and the pictures show the reality. There are some people who like small and cosy and we are always glad that there are because we still haven't found an effective magic wand to make our bricks and mortar more spacious! Robin is in a building that was constructed around 1800 and converted to holiday accommodation in approximately 1950 when people did generally have smaller rooms. However, we are fortunate to have a range of sizes of properties to suit all tastes and requirements, so if you wouldlike more space next time please just chat to us!

Have just returned from the May Bank Holiday weekend after our first visit nearly 12 years ago!! We stayed in Pheasant Cottage again, which has fantastic character, with the added bonus of waking up to lovely views over the bay.

Arriving at 9.30pm on Friday after a 5 hour drive, it was great to be welcomed by the lights on in the cottage, with tea/coffee and beautiful cup cakes as well.

Animal feeding is excellent, Liz took such a lot of time with the children explaining everything and getting them all involved, we all really enjoyed the experience.

Lots of stuff to do around the area, but lovely to come back to the cottage for a walk along the cliffs and down to the beach.

Will definitely be back and hopefully sooner than 12 years - many thanks Liz and Jeremy

Room Tip: Pheasant cottage has great sea views from the bedrooms and from the garden
