we decided to visit and on turning up found the house to be closed but the member of staff in the shop was helpful and friendly with the information about opening time we had paid to park so went for a walk around the gardens which were well keep a very peaceful would advise making a call to find out opening times before you go so not to be disappointed when house is shut on turning up

“Chambercombe Manor”

By chance we found a leaflet about the Manor whilst on our holiday. Being the tired owner of two teenagers, we thought a trip to a haunted Manor house might appeal - it did appeal and it did not disappoint!

The staff were very friendly and affable. They all were extremely knowledgeable about the history of the place.

We loved our trip around the house and the tour guide was outstanding. We had a full history of the house as well as some great ghost stories. It would have been nice to have just a bit more time to wander around taking more photos.

The grounds were superb, very beautiful and highly maintained.

We visited the buttery twice as it was that good! We had lunch before the tour and came back at the end for tea and cake. The food was amazing. It was all freshly made and the service was second to none. The cafe also had free wifi.

Unfortunately I didn't catch any ghosts or orbs on my photographs, however.... my phone battery was almost completely drained and took a couple of days before it charged up properly. It has been fine ever since - coincidence????

“Spooktacular Manor and Lovely cream teas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

Visted the manor when on holiday last year and had to come back this year. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and all know a lot about the history of the manor. While there my sister took a picture which had a moving orb on which a member of staff said was brilliant a lot of our photos had orbs on. We had a cream tea which was lovely and you get plenty for your money. Will defiantly be returning when we come back to Devon.

“Family visit”

We have visited this house many times over the years and have never had a bad few hours here. Lovely gardens and walks along the river too. The cafe is nice with both inside and outside seating. The staff are all friendly and informative. A morning visit followed by a light lunch and a lovely walk afterwards makes a good outing for either a tourist or a local! Dog friendly too. The history and ghost stories attached to the house are very interesting. They also have a little shop where I didn't have any trouble spending some money!

An interesting house. The gardens are well worth a visit to see the range of plants especially the variety of colours of the hydrangeas.
