Stayed at the Marine Court for 3 nights, Karen and Russ are passionate about what they do and it shows, everything catered for, and exceptional hosts, its been a long time since we have stayed anywhere this good for a long time, and the breakfast was amazing, its situated not to far from the Harbour a good 5 min walk with wonderful views, enjoyed the stay and would very much like to return in the near future...

Room Tip: Room number 5, sea view...

This was a last minute booking and we were very happy with our choice. Although quite small, our room was sunny and attractive. Karen and Russ were very welcoming hosts and breakfasts were excellent. Russ was happy for us to leave our car in the car park before we checked in so we could wander down into the town.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay in room 8 (suite ), fantastic room. Bed
very comfy, shower fantastic and everything you could ask for is provided.
Karen & Russ are really great hosts and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast is to die for and is so fresh and tasty.
Will definitely return in 2014. The best b&b ever.

Stayed with Karen and Russ 16-19th August. Couldn't wish for better hosts, very welcoming and Karen has the knack of remembering everyone's name! The hotel itself is well placed for 5 minute walk to the harbour, although a little steep walking back for the less able. Car parking is good, next door to the hotel. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the breakfast is really excellent, loved the fresh fruit. The cooked option was locally sourced and expertly cooked. All in all a lovely experience. Would definitely stay again if in the area and would thoroughly recommend.

We have just got home from a four night stay in Marine Court Hotel and we cannot rate it highly enough. On arrival we had such a warm welcome from Russ and Karen with our bags taken to our room for us by Russ while we checked in! Our room was no.11 and one of the refurbished rooms and we were very impressed, especially with the en-suite - it was lovely. The room has everything we could have needed, a sea view, tv/DVD player, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, delicious biscuits, a hair dryer and even the bathroom has shampoo/shower gel and lovely little touch of cotton buds and cotton pads in case you forget your own!
Breakfast is 8:15 to 9:15 and well worth getting up for!! The full english was amazing and cooked to perfection every morning. There can be a little wait for breakfast if the breakfast room is busy as everything is cooked fresh but we wouldn't have it any other way... The food really was excellent. The choice for breakfast is very good, you choose exactly what you want in your full english but they also have alternative options such as smoked salmon and scrambled egg with a muffin. There is also plenty of fresh juice and tea and coffee, as well as cereals and plenty of toast!
We also had a drink in the bar one evening with Russ and Karen which is cosy and a well stocked bar. They were so friendly and relaxed, chatting away with us - we really enjoyed our drink. The bar is closed at 10pm in consideration of the other guests and noise consideration which shows how Russ and Karen go out of their way to accommodate for everyone. We also noticed how they remember all the guests' names which seems a small thing but is important to feeling welcome there! They are both very knowledgable of the area and were more than happy to tell us where to go I.e. towns round about and places to eat in Ilfracombe itself.
The location is ideal... A five minute walk from the harbour so away from the noise of the pubs and restaurants but near enough to get to them in five mins! I did hear a little bit of noise from a car one night but this was only because we had our windows open, the weather being beautiful. When the windows were closed we didn't hear a thing.
Overall, we can't recommend this place enough. It is a lovely, clean, tidy and well presented hotel and the welcome and the hosts were outstanding. We will be recommending the hotel to friends and family and wouldn't stay anywhere else if we come back to Ilfracombe!!

Marine Court Hotel is listed on Tripadvisor as No. 1 of 26 hotels in Ilfracombe and No. 1 of 46 B&B in Ilfracombe. However my experience and the signage is that this is a Guest House. Check in is from 3-8pm however we arrived at 12 wanting to access the car park and get lunch in town until rooms available. The reception we had could have been better and we felt if we had imposed ourselves on them. Free parking is reserved for guests right next door by displaying the hotel card in windscreen. Rooms 1 + 2 are front facing the road and next to each other. As a family of five we had a quad and a double room. Normally under 8's aren't allowed but our 6,10 + 11 year were welcome. The whole place including bedrooms are clean and freshly painted if a little old fashioned. Pine furtniture, textured wall paper, shell bathroom suite. Both rooms had well stocked hospitality trays including hot chocolate for children and water together with wall mounted tv. I found shower room ensuite in room 1 gloomy and tight with toilet flush poor. Ensuite bathroom in room 2 had very poor pressure on shower and again toilet poor flush. I found double glazing kept the street and traffic noise down if closed, pity in the warm weather. There is a restaurant opposite with outside seating and there was some noise nuisance from there but not late into night. The rooms would be enhanced by soft close doors as both banged shut unintentionally. The breakfast room was pleasant and well stocked with cerials and fresh fruit with cooked to order. The lounge bar area off we didn't use but we could clearly hear other guests on both evenings particulary from the single bedded room. They weren t roudy, but this is a consideration when staying in a guest house. The owners were friendly and made a fuss of the children which I liked. Ilfracombe in general was a bit of a disappointment after travelling from Carbis Bay Cornwall with some areas quite run down , I don't think I would be tempted back. It was very difficult finding restaurants who accepted card payment, cash preferred especially if taking boat trips. I thought £150 B&B pn very reasonable for 5. Is situated about 10 minute walk from Harbour via a steep hill.

We really enjoyed staying at the Marine Court Hotel, it was my birthday and when we arrived I received a birthday card from Karen and Russ which was lovely, they are an amazing couple who have worked very hard to achieve what they have and we would highly recommend staying with them to everyone. Our boys still talk about them now, 'can we go back to see Karen & Russ'

The only critism was having a room (which was lovely clean and comfortable) but because it was hot we had the windows open and we heard all the traffic and the people leaving the pub opposite.

Amazing break just at the top of a hill from the Harbour and would definitely go back especially for Russ' breakfast ;

Room Tip: All rooms are very clean and comfortable with an added touch of tea/coffee facilities with biscuits...
