Although this listing is in the hotel section, we recently visited the pub for dinner and thought it would be worth a review of our experience in the pub.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon at about 16:00. Many of the pubs in the area had stopped serving and so we were happy to find the Britannia still serving food. The pub is quite traditional inside and the barman was friendly and helpful.
The menus do not do the food justice, they are quite cramped and hard to read, however there is a massive choice and it states on the menu that all food is cooked to order.
I went for the 16oz steak cooked rare and my wife went for the chicken tikka masala. We also visited with our 9 month old daughter and they were very accommodating when we asked if they could do us a small salad for her.
We didn't have to wait too long for the food and when it came it was obvious that it had been freshly cooked. My steak was cooked as I had asked and was very good. My wife's curry was also spot on. Portion size was good as well.
The staff who brought the food out were also really friendly and helpful.
All in all we were really impressed with the Britannia and would defiantly recommend it to anyone looking for a good value, traditional pub in Ilfracombe serving good quality food.
