“Fun filled weekend at a wonderful Friendly Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

We have just had a wonderful weekend at this Hotel, myself my partner and 2 friends spent the weekend here. The Hotel takes you back to Victorian times with its old yet lovely adequate decor, you get to feel the full effect of how it much have been years ago to be at the seaside, but I mean this in a good way as the rooms were fab and cozy the food tasty and the care the owners and staff gave us was above and beyond what we have got in other hotels here in the UK and the USA. It was like being at home, a real family atmosphere. Not like some over posh hotels where a child touches a table and is frowned upon !!! or you dont know where to sit as you are afraid you will mess something up !!
We even noticed the great care and help they gave to a group of old folks who came on a coach trip..it was lovely and they all seemed to have a great time !!
The entertainment was great, to see the old and young dancing together was touching.
We were given good advice on what to do and see in the area and we can honestly say we had a wonderful weekend and would visit again.
Thanks to the owners, job well done see you soon !

Room Tip: higher floors not for those with walking problems as lots of stairs and hallways ..but there is a li...

Having stayed there at Xmas we decided to go back to celebrate two birthdays with our friends,
all went very well and a good time was had by all.The best time was on our last night when Wendy and staff came out with the cake and whisky which we had pre-ordered for our friends
70th birthday, so nicely done it rounded off our lovely stay.Again having been before we weren't sure it would be as good but doubts were allayed as it was just opposite,so much so we are going back again for Xmas,so good to have a family run hotel and areally fine staff.
Food was enough and at least the meals were enough, best of all the plates were HOT,
Maybe not up to some peoples standard but a family hotel, tried to get extra days but was
fully booked until September

Room Tip: We had our rooms at the front but was really surprised how quiet they were, everything was in place a...

Room very small and unbearably hot.. The food was disgusting, cheap and pre cooked food used. I had to send two meals back and still didn't eat it! The breakfast was just as bad, cheap sausages and overcooked hash browns the toast didn't even see the toaster!! The jugs were dirty.
The waitresses were very helpful and friendly and did everything they could.
The owner on the other hand really couldn't care less about my complaints! I checked out early even though I had paid.

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs to the rooms.

Recently return from a 5 day visit to this hotel, our bedroom was a bit on the small side but clean, a number of other residents complained of dirty rooms, so we were pleased. Had to take the lift and then climb 23 stairs which we found rather difficult to manage (both being in our mid 70's). The stairs were narrow and winding.
The Public area seemed fine with plenty of chairs.
Food acceptable but not good. An hour and half was allowed for breakfast, but Dinner 6.30 p.m. prompt. A few guests were late and one couple were not allowed starters, and another couple were only allowed Desserts. I thought this was unacceptable we are paying guests and think this hotel could be more relaxing in their approach to Holiday Guests. For a 2 star Hotel it was O.K. But not likely to go back.

I have just returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel. The hotel was what you can expect from a 2 Star hotel. Room was clean and bathroom was clean. The staff were very friendly. The food was good, but the service at dinner could have been better. The breakfast was space out so everyone did not appear at the same time. But at dinner we were all seated at the one time, this made the serving very slow as there was over 70 people to be served. I have been in hotels catering for large bus parties where they stager the time of dinner. This means that the staff are not rushed off their feet. I would think about going back to this hotel if I was ever in this area.

A friend and I spent a few days exploring this coastline and loved the quirkyness of this sea side town.....so many of the wonderful hotels appear to be of a bygone age ... Dated and fading but my friend and I enjoyed our two night stay at the Grosvenor...friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was plentiful and served efficiently by lovely staff. A bonus for me was the hotel had soya milk! How the hotel makes any money from the amount we paid is staggering....so take no notice of the negative comments and enjoy this lovely part of England. A visit to Tunnels beach, Damien Hirst's Restaurant and the statue of Verity is a must...controversial she might be but that's the point!
