Having just spent the Christmas week on Lundy Island, we were looking forward to spending the New Year in Ilfracombe and were blown away from the very minute we opened the front door of Wildercombe House.

Anne-Marie and Barry have lovingly restored this building and the care and attention to detail feels very personal indeed; they should be extremely proud of what they have achieved.

Our room was extremely comfortable and up there with some of best boutique hotels. Breakfast was excellent but again this is down to care and attention to detail. Two of us had the Eggs Benedict and one the poached haddock, all of which was faultless.

We spent the New Year's Eve with friends but enjoyed a lovely Prosecco in the bar before venturing out for the town celebrations. Those who enjoy craft beer should take a look at the range of local beer, Lundy's Gold comes highly recommended.

Breakfast the next morning set us all up for the day ahead and rounded off a perfect festive holiday. We hope to visit Lundy again in spring and will look to stay at Wildercombe before, after or maybe both. Wildercombe is by far the best place to stay in Ilfracombe and we would strongly recommend you take a look.

My three day visit felt like being at home. Newly rennovated the building exterior and interior are the best I have seen in an Guest House or B&B. Ann-Marie and Gary are very welcoming and call you by name at every instance. My room was spacious, very neat and full of light. Breakfast and dinners were delightful - very well presented and quite tasty. I certainly will recommend to others and will be back!

Room Tip: My room was #6. It was 6 large windows with tremendous views of the hills, sea and city. Plenty of...

I stayed here for 2 nights as I was attending a wedding nearby. By far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, rooms were clean, tidy & well equipped. The owners were fantastic, they made everyone feel very welcome, easy to see why they are rated so highly by everyone on here. I would go out of my way to stay here again.

This was my Third Visit to Wildercombe House and it certainly wont be my Last,as usual Anne Marie and Barry where the fantastic hosts and breakfasts and rooms as perfect as my last visit,
this time they had installed a massive Christmas tree in the Lobby for the festive season which
only adds to the ambience of this Great little hotel.

Being a fan of real beers I must compliment Barry on his fine selction and if you like good wines you wont be disappointed and the Breakfasts where as Hearty as ever.

Well done to you Both and look forward to seeing you next year

My wife and I stayed for one night at the end of the first week of December as we needed a place close to a nearby shooting school. We were extremely impressed with the facilities and the service. We live abroad and not knowing the area at all we fell upon Wildercombe House by chance on the internet when our original accommodation nearby fell through and it turned out to be an extremely lucky break. Breakfast was wonderful and on the basis of that meal, while we ate out in Ilfracombe the previous night, we would say that the evening meal would be worth considering too as they are using excellent local suppliers for their meat. We cannot fault and would highly recommend.

Anne-Marie and Barry Marsh were very welcoming and the hotel was a real 5 star experience and excellent value. We had an upgrade at no extra cost.
Breakfast was served by Anne-Marie and she always had time to chat about details of the day. She was also available at the bar ready to serve us with a drink at the end of the day.
Our holiday was very focused around surfing and the area was ideal.
We had booked Bed and Breakfast but you could have an evening meal if you wished. The menu was varied and reasonably priced.
Can't wait to go again.

Room Tip: We only saw the bedroom we were in which was on the ground floor and very nice. We used the bar res...
