“Groceries pack”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

My review is for the groceries pack that we ordered and was ready on our arrival. The pack contains a mix of local and brand named items and contained everything we needed to get us started. We have tried the local items in the pack and found them to be excellent quality, I would recommend you consider ordering a pack when making a booking

After having a wonderful week away last year we decided to return for a long weekend. The lodge was lovely and clean and had all the facilities/ mod cons we needed. They are a compact and cosy home from home- Including a DVD/tv to snuggle up in front of once the children have gone to bed. We loved sitting out on the decking in the evening listening to the trees and river that runs close by to the lodges. Very relaxing! There is plenty of space for a family both inside and out - with many places to walk, sit or play. One of our favourite spots to sit was by the large pond with a tea cake and a cup of tea, watching all the wildlife. Such a relaxing place to be. We would also recommend the newly opened restaurant which serves a hearty breakfast.
We are now considering a winter break towards the end of the year knowing how cosy the lodges are. We had to turn the heating down as the lodge heats up very quickly. We all also had such good nights sleep, Our 2 year old slept better than she does at home- must have been all the fresh air.
These are also very reasonably priced for what you get for your money.
Can't wait to return to our little place of tranquility.
Thank you to all staff who made our stay so enjoyable and stress free.

Room Tip: Take willies for walking through woods and by the pond as it can get muddy. Be prepared for a dawn...

My Husband, 2 children aged 5 and 7 and myself visited Hidden Valley in Easter Half term for a long weekend in our touring van. It is in a great location with only approx 4 miles to either Croyde, Ilfracombe or Woolacombe, i believe there are buses available too. Owners and people working in the shop were more than helpful! You can order fresh bread every day! Shower facilities were excellent, best i have experienced! My children loved the park with the stream running through, they made some friends and never wanted to leave the site. Walks are lovely. Will be going back possible as soon as the summer!! Highly Recommended!!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. We were shown our pitch for our campervan and awning which was a decent size on a very well constructed hard standing with water, electric hook up and a TV point. Very peaceful location with birdsong, ducks waddling about the site and the facilities were clean, well maintained with fantastic showers. There is also a bath if you wish to spoil yourself for £1 hire.

The whole site is really well laid out in tiers and you do not feel hemmed in due to the length of the site area - we normally go for smaller sites 10 - 30 pitches, but this was just excellent. The River Caen runs through the site and there are excellent woodland walks for dogs and humans!

The site is beautifully situated for visiting the nearby towns and beaches, and the moorland of course. We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to our camping friends.

First time my wife and i have visited North Devon. What a delight...
We stayed for six nights on a premium pitch in the area marked Elm. This site was nearly full but was very quiet. There is a stream that runs through the middle of the site, you can hear it but unless you have trouble sleeping it not a problem(personally found it very relaxing). This site is in a wooded valley right off the A361 traffic noise was minimal
There was plenty of bird life to sit and watch and listen to .
The site is about 10 minute drive to Illfracombe,Woolacombe and Saunton beach(well worth a visit).
Toilet/ shower block clean and warm
Only a couple negative points found the water pressure was low on the pitch, and a few pot holes around the site.
But i HIGHLY recommend this site and we have decided it well worth another vist next year.

We stayed in one of the three holiday lodges on the site over the easter break. The beds were comfortable but the quilts were thin and flat;we were quite frankly cold at night. No complaints over cleanliness which was of a good standard. The kitchen was quite pooorly equipped;no colander, sieve or even a pair of scissors! We would have appreciated some instructions how to use the electric wall heaters in the kitchen and second bedroom. Other than that a lovely site with good woodland walks for the dogs, a little shop selling basics and a tea shop which we didn't use so can't rate. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The only other downside was the traffic noise from the nearby main road, but on the whole a very pleasant site. Just think the lodge facilities need a bit more thought.

We paid for a "Premier" pitch & the price £30, was worth it, on reflection; it should, in my opinion include the wi-fi access for the duration of our stay though, which is "extra" on top of the £30. It would have made our stay a more relaxing experience.
The site is situated 4 miles from Ilfracombe, 5 miles from Barnstaple & the bus stop, right outside the site, allowed us to explore both towns.
The grounds were kept clean & tidy, water from the showers & taps was Hot, not just warm.
Staff were helpful & worked hard to make our stay a pleasant one.
Try it for yourself..........
