Wedding event at The Tunnels was wondeful. Planned by the couple and family but the service by helpful staff was exellent. A great venue.
We stayed at the Harcourt Hotel and from the warm welcome when arriving, the rooms, food, and the amazing Kirsty who did everything she could, made our short stay first class.
Parking in Ilfracombe is difficult to say the least, but not when Kirsty is around she makes sure that everyone finds a place at the hotel -- great.

We (my husband, 24-year-old daughter, and I) arrived in Ilfracombe on a rainy day with no plans or reservations, and we feel so fortunate to have found our way to the Harcourt! It is modest and undistinguished from the outside, and you walk into a plain entry with a narrow flight of stairs, but don't let that first glimpse dissuade you. Our rooms were clean and well-appointed, with free Wi Fi, a great hot shower, a lovely view of the coast, and a very comfortable bed complete with a wrapped chocolate on each pillow. The proprietor was incredibly thoughtful and welcoming -- she even went outside in the rain and moved some cars so we could park more easily -- and morning breakfast was excellent. Staff was kind and friendly, and overall, I will remember this as one of the most pleasant stays in our English sojourn.

Very accommodting with excellent staff. All very polite and the service was second to none.

Nothing seemed too much trouble for any of their guests and the hotel offers great value for money and caters for every need.

This hotels really deserves to to do well and the breakfast was super. very good quality as well as quantity.

I would not hesitate to stay again next time I am in the area or to recommend to any of my friends and family.

This is a hidden treasure.

Many thanks for such an enjoyable stay.

Phil

My fiancee and I stayed for three nights from 07/06/11 in Room No5 as a last minute break. Staff were very polite on phone booking the room in the afternoon and on arrival (approx 8pm) we were greeted and made to feel very welcome. We were told about good restaurants and pubs to visit in town and local tips etc, then shown to our room. Room was very tidy (Room No5 was actually a family room rather than double), clean and comfortable, and same for en suite with shower. Mini toiletries in the ensuite and mints on the bed were a nice touch as was free wifi. Breakfast was plentiful and staff constantly friendly and checking we were happy (but not overly pushy).
From recommendations we enjoyed two fantastic meals out (Giovanni and Luca's Italian restaurant and The Terrace Tapas bar) and a great day trip to Lundy Island. Hotel is in a good location within walking distance of harbour, promenade and high street and good value for money.
Parking is awful in Ilfracombe so we were pleased with the small car park (3 spaces) at the front of the property. As with most older seaside properties access to the rooms is up/down flights of stairs. Also within the town there is a fair bit of renovation work going on, so some noise may be experienced. However it was not at obtrusive hours and not too loud. All in all a lovely family run bed and breakfast that we would be more than happy to return to.

Stayed in The Harcourt Hotel for a week in April. I can not recommend this hotel enough, beautiful rooms, very clean and spacious, lovely bar and terrace (with fantastic views of the sea, lovely to sit and have a cup of coffee and watch the waves) The owners are both wonderfully accommodating, very friendly and welcoming, nothing is to much trouble. Lovely breakfasts, with a brilliant choice. Hotel very close to a variety of restaurants and pubs, and a very short walk to Ilfracombe's beautiful harbor. I had a wonderful week, and have booked to come back and stay in the near future, would highly recommend (and have done) to everyone. Looking forward to my next stay.

As stated in the title this is more of a Bed & Breakfast/Guest House than a Hotel, it is a total residential place that requires a key to get into the front door and also has its rules and regulations with a 'spot fine' being given for those that fall foul of those rules. That being said I found this place to be very clean, the room and bathroom were small but functional, the breakfasts were lovely and the owner and her daughter were very friendly. It is situated within afew minutes walk from the town centre, harbour and promenade.
