“So good, we went twice!”
Reviewed 26 April 2011

We visited Tenby three years ago and came upon this restaurant by chance. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

So upon our return to Tenby this Easter, we booked for the Friday night. We were not disappointed - everything was very good - the ambience, the staff, the food, the drink. We had moules and scallops to start (ate far too much bread with the sumptuous moules juices!) followed by Marlin steak (fantastic) and Monkfish (delicious). No room for puds!

After looking around at the other restaurants for Saturday night, none appealed. In fact, many seemed to have gone downhill since our last visit. So we decided to push the boat out and re-visit the Plantagenet. We had been very tempted after seeing the lobster on the Friday arriving at another table. We had moules (not so much bread this time!) and grilled mackerel followed by two lobster thermidors. The lobster was glorious and well worth the wait of 22 years since we had had it previously!!!

Neither was a cheap meal, but we enjoyed what we had and look forward to future visits.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 26 April 2011

I had done quite a bit of restaurant research before our visit to Tenby and wasn’t sure about booking a table at the Plantagenet so thought we’d just decide when we got there. We did decide to go for dinner after being greeted by the very friendly staff when we enquired about a booking one lunchtime.

We went back later that evening and although can’t fault the staff or environment (we were unfortunately right by the open door which was unfortunate, as even a sunny day in April can end in a chilly evening!), the food was disappointing. We are not ‘foodies’ so weren’t being overly critical but my husband’s fish was overcooked and with my chicken dish, there was just too much going on flavour-wise.

I would say it’s very expensive for what it is and we wouldn’t rush back but it could have just been an off day!

“Delightful place good food cwtchable romantic”
Reviewed 21 April 2011

Lovely atmosphire, nice staff, great food, huge portions. Starters almost a main, fish so big hanging off the sides of the large plates. Need good appetite! As delicious as it was portions could have been slightly smaller then price may not be quite as much. Well worth a try though.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 20 March 2011

I took my girlfriend here on Friday night after two recommendations from work colleagues. We arrived at 8pm and were not rushed, infact we were invited down to the bar for a drink first and the owner (Barney) came down and introduced himself which was a nice touch.

The food was excellent, if you go here you must try the Red Snapper starter. The restaurant is very romantic and Barney and his staff couldnt do enough for us.

We will definitely be returning next time we are in Tenby.

“Wonderful sunday lunch”
Reviewed 6 March 2011

Greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant, the ambience there is lovely. I had the lamb and my partner had the beef which were both lovely and the accompanying vegetable were very tasty and beautifully cooked. The house wine is always very drinkable, a bit too drinkable actually! We both chose creme brulee for dessert and wish it had gone on forever as their creme brulee is to die for. This could not be mistaken for a packet dessert with a bit of milk thrown in, it's creamy, just the right eggy taste, not too much and a lovely hint of vanilla. Coffees ended the meal nicely. The service was also wonderful as we were asked if everything was ok etc a few times and staff and owners were friendly and accommodating at all times, made to feel special. Can't wait for the next visit. : )
