What was meant to be a fabulous weekend in Tenby, staying in an apartment on the beach will forever in my mind be spoilt by the experience in Plantagenet House.
I will spare you the gory details but this place is all show above substance. The menu is selling dishes the kitchen most definitely cannot deliver. Now I am not the most assertive of diners but when my half hearted "I don't think that was what we ordered" comment was delivered to the manageress she said "I could tell you were trouble the minute you walked in". Charmed I'm sure. Seriously over-priced and under-cooked. Avoid.

My husband and I were greately impressed by this restaurant. We were visiting Tenby just for the week-end and did not know any of the restaurants. We probably spent a good 20 mins walking up and down the streets and looking at all the restaurant's menus (which were offering all about the same type of "pub" food) and almost gave up, when we turn left in a small street and found the Plantagenet House restaurant. This place is a real gem and everything was perfect: friendly service, very good food, beautiful setting (the restaurant owner will certainly offer you to visit the back of the restaurant, which is actually a gigantic fire place - very impressive). It is not a cheap place to eat in, but once in a while, it is well worth it, especially whilst on holidays !
We spent GBP91.70 for two (aperitifs, 2 course meals and wine). The portions were extremely generous and as a consequence, we did not take the dessert. We had Chicken rillettes on salad and balsamic dressing & goat cheese salad as a starter and for our main: red snapper fillet with a mung bean peppery sauce, served with tempura vegetables, blue cheese stuffed chicken breast with fresh pasta and wild mushroom sauce.
If you have to try one restaurant in Tenby, we highly recommend the Plantagent House.
