To me a spa isn area where you can relax, get some treatments, have a good swim and maybe some exercise.
Here there is no treatment room, some decent looking kit, and a very chilly pool.
No locks on the lockers.
Showers without shower gel.
The showers were freezing cold. We were told that we should have run them for 20- 25 mins to get warm water.
Oh yes, and the towels have to be got from hotel reception,and taken back there.

Not worth considering until problems have been sorted out and pool warmed up.
No private changing rooms. Receptionist didn't tell us we needed a coin for the locker.

Spa and pool clean but could do with updating, no lifeguard in attendance in swimming pool which is dangerous when families are using it frequently.

Firstly I should say that this is not a review of the hotel
accommodation itself, but a review of the poor and ever deteriorating
spa and leisure facilities, which I feel needs pointing out to not only
potential customers but the management too (which it has been on several
occasions). As an on and off member to the spa and gym with my spouse,
we have been using the facilities for the past 3-4 years and they have
rapidly declined over this time.
If something breaks, it either takes the management a good few weeks to
fix it or it is just simply left. Without writing a five page essay on
what needs sorting out in the gym and spa area, here is a list of things
that regularly fail there or have failed to be fixed - pool and jacuzzi
temperatures constantly fluctuate (jacuzzi settings don't even work at
the moment); often the jacuzzi is off limits during peak times as
children are given the task of cleaning it when the facility is still
open (i.e after school hours); the sauna door doesn't close properly
(and hasn't done for over a year); timer and light in the sauna have
disappeared (several months ago); handle on the ladle to put water on
the sauna coals has broken off and users have to pick up the bucket of
water to get the job done (very dangerous); problems with cross trainer
machine in gym; weights machine constantly breaking and takes up to 2
months on occasion to fix (has broken 3-4 times over past 12 months and
there is no sign on machine to say it is out of order); loose weights
have gone missing several months ago and have not been replaced; no mats
in the changing rooms (very dangerous as floor is always wet); shower
gel/shampoo taken away few weeks ago and not replaced; flushing the
toilet always sees the water come out and onto the floor; seldom any
toilet paper in the toilet.
I am sure that there are several other issues that need addressing which
I have probably forgotten about off the top of my head and I'm sure
there are faults which other users and members have picked up upon too.
Now the management have come up with one or two reasons why it has taken
time to sort out one or two things, but I'm sure that anyone reading
this will agree that the list as long as the one I have just written
shows that there is real neglect shown in the running of the spa and
gym, which just isn't good enough for a so called 4 Star hotel.
Come on Heywood Lane sort it out, your standards have slipped
dramatically and there are one or two murmurings that others that use
the facility will take it further if regulations and standards are not
met soon.
