We had lunch at the Life Boat Tavern as we were drawn in by the lovely bar area (an actual boat!) and the large beer garden to the rear of the pub. We were not disappointed. The drinks are reasonable with good promotions and the food speaks for itself. The menus are somewhat chain pub in appearance but the meals were fresh, good sized portions and delicious.
I had the Life Boat Salad and wow, it was huge, a fresh crisp salad with crusty bread, homemade colslaw, butchers thick cut ham, fresh prawns and delicious cheese - I could hardly move! My other half had the minted lamb steak and again it was fresh, well presented and tasty. We saw curries, steaks, scampi all going out with crisp salads, nicely presented and didn't hear a single complaint.
The live music on a Sunday evening is a nice treat and the order at the bar service reduces the intrusion of staff in what is essentially a small local pub.
Top quality good pub food...would definitely recommend!
