“Lovely little attraction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Dropped on this when just wandering through this very pretty seaside town. Very glad we went in to take a look. Lots of very interesting little facts throughout the three storey property. The two guides were very helpful and we had a really interesting chat about the history of the property and how it fit into life within the town. Probably only a 20 minute visit and very little authentic furniture but it's all put together to give you a real feel fir life in Tudor Times. Well done to the National Trust!

“Unusual and Interesting property”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

We visited this property during the October school half term holiday. It is one of the National Trust's smaller properties, but is very interesting. The property has three levels with each floor being furnished with replica items that fit the Tudor period. Due to this you are able to sit on the furniture and interact with the exhibits, such as games and toys used in Tudor times. This is refreshing for a National Trust Property and helps bring the house to life.

The three members of staff on duty were very welcoming and happy to give you background information on the property and the life of the family who would have lived there in Tudor times.

On the top floor is the merchant's bedroom with a replica Tudor bed. Whilst this is the only item in the house you cannot interact with the room steward was more than happy to remove the bedding to show the construction and explain how the Tudors slept.

On the day we visited the staff were running a competition for children which helped our son get the best from his visit. He also enjoyed playing with the toys and games mentioned earlier.

If you are in Tenby a visit to the Tudor Merchant's House is a must.

What a great building with a fascinating history. The two NT ladies present on our visit were very helpful and knowledgable and couldnt have been friendlier. A must visit when in Tenby.

“Interesting & informative”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

We recently spent a week's holiday in Pembrokeshire. We visited Tenby on a wet Friday afternoon and despite the weather had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The Tudor Merchant's House was surprisingly interesting. It is a small house with a limited number of rooms but each has been kitted out according to the period. I'm normally sceptical of talks or interaction with guides in National Trust properties, finding them to be a bit 'dry' but I found the staff here to be informative, engaging and friendly. Well worth a visit if you're in Tenby.
