Just back after 2 nights at this hotel. I have never stayed in such a dated place and for £95 double occupancy per night. Our room was at the front on the second floor and, yes, we were told it was small but that was an understatement. The lady on the front desk is very nice and the rest of the staff are pleasant and seem to work hard. This hotel would need thousands spending on it before I would stay again. I imagine it would compare to a 70s b and b (the B and Bs these days being fabulous). It wasn't possible for 2 people to move around the room, you could tell from the coving on the ceiling that it had once been a bigger room. The bathroom (joke) was behind a plastic screen which left nothing to the imagination. As you stood in the doorway there was a toilet on your right and a shower on your left and room to stand between them if you're slim. The basin was set into chipped formica (remember that?) in the bedroom. The carpet was flowery and threadbare. In the middle of the night the telephone in the corridor was knocked off the hook by someone and beeped an alarm for a couple of hours before my partner worked out where the sound was coming from By this time I'd gone down to reception to fetch the nightporter (oh yes, he said, we have to fix the received on with blu tac so it doesn't drop off!). You'[re probably getting the picture by now. A couple of good points, the view if fantastic out to sea and the breakfast was fine!
