My husband and myself have recently stayed at The Belgrave for 3 nights over week-end. I can see why previous review mentioned the lady on reception, she was not very welcoming at all. However all the other staff we encountered, from room cleaners to waitresses, were very cheerful.
The breakfasts were a little disappointing. We told the waitress that we did not eat meat (i.e the bacon and sausage stated on the menu) but she still asked if we wanted beans OR tin tomatoes. This was a bit on the mean side as we only had one fried egg, a spoonful of beans and one hash brown.. It sometime appears that people tend to think if you are vegetarian you do not have an appetite.
We booked the Gala meal on the Saturday and it was exceptional for £14.95. This kind of made up for the breakfasts though.
The room was on the small side and the shower "room" was only a cupboard but the towels and bed linen was spotless. The view over the beach was amazing and the lapping of the waves sent you off to sleep at night. Overall the hotel is in a great location.
The bar and lounge were very comfortable and also overlooked the promenade and sea front. Drink prices were very reasonable compared with the prices in the town.
