“I Love Tenby”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2012

Just got back from a one night stay at the Giltar hotel..
We paid a little extra for the premier room (newly refurbished).. It was a lovely room.. décor very stylish, modern and clean.. (number 205, with a see view). However was very cosy.. Don’t think I’d be fussed if was staying more than one night… Bathroom also stylish modern and clean, but again nice a snug..
Breakfast consisted.. 1 bacon, 1 egg, 1 sausage, 1 hashbrown, 1 mushroom, 1 tomato, pot of beans and toast.. Even though I was stuffed after it.. its always nice to see two of every thing.. That’s what I call a full English.. with a little black pudding..
Bar in the basement stayed open till 1.. we were having a late one so that didn’t bother us too much..
Would definitely recommend the Giltar hotel.. next time will request for bigger room and stay longer.

This is a lovely hotel in a great position with stunning sea views and only minutes from the town centre. The food is excellent and the staff and service very good and friendly. The communal areas have been done up very nicely but not all the rooms are up to standard yet. My single room had a very small shower and toilet area which needed some updating and it was difficult to get a hot showers at peak times.

Room Tip: The refurbished rooms looked the best

The Giltar hotel is well worth staying at , fantastic sea views , helpfull and friendly staff , The breakfast was excellent with a variety to choose from , everything came hot and very tasty , Our room was excellent lovely sea view with a modern and spotlessly clean en suite shower room , Nothing at all to complain about , The staff are very helpfull and anything that you need is quickly provided , We will be staying there again as we had a fantastic time and the views of the beach and caldy island are magical , well worth staying there ........

I stayed here overnight recently and was delighted by the attentive reception staff. The room had been refurbished, but was perfectly adequate for one nights stay.

The staff serving breakfast could have been a bit quicker and helpful, but the food was lovely.

Located on the sea front it is a five minute stroll into the centre of the town.

Just back from 2 day stay at the Giltar. I booked 2 x "double rooms" in July for a Sept. break so not last minute. Room 201 or 212 were nothing like the pictures on the internet or brochure given to your with your bill upon departure! Both very small and Room 201 had unwanted extra bed, the tiny bathroom was grubby and far from expected standard of a 3*hotel. We requested a different room, was told hotel fully booked so then asked for the extra bed to be removed and the receptionist, (she knows who she is) laughed openly at us, said it could not be moved and no one had ever asked for less beds, then promptly turned her back on us. The extra bed was removed the next day but with no apology for her attitude. We were also unable to have a drink in the bar as it reserved for a private function. Car park it seemed was for staff so we had to pay for the public car park up the road. Music from function room below 212 kept our friends awake until well after midnight on Satrurday. On a positive the beds, bed linen and towels were the only good thing about either room. It was Helen who served our full English breakfast the next day with her cheery and helpful service warmed us a little to the hotel and made our stay at the hotel more enjoyable our so we thank her for this.

Room Tip: It appears that only some of these rooms have been upgraded so check as 201 was very, very tired. S...

I am really sorry that you were disapponted with your recent stay with us but feel that I must comment on certain issues that you have brought up. Your heading states'Please be up front and honest' this we do because if you check our web site under rooms you will clearly see that Standard (which are the rooms that you booked back in July) staes that these are rooms that have not yet been updated and could be a half bay. We show pictures of our Premier and Deluxe rooms stately again clearly Premier and Deluxe. How can we be more upfront? Room 201 does have a double and a single bed for small families and can be used also as a twin bedded room.
On the question of a drink and the use of the bar we have never refused a guest a drink and if there is a function on in the bar we will serve our guests in the lounge but never refuse.
Our car park is small and will only hold approx 15 cars. The comment was it as full of staff cars which is again completely untrue and I would like to know how the lady assumed it was all staff and I am sure the guests whose cars they were would confirm that, quite strange.
I do apologise for the guest whose sleep was disturbed due to the wedding that was on but the music did finish at 12.30.
I will again apologise for your disappointment but would ask you to state the full facts and not just the negitive.

Currently on a fantastic two day break in Tenby - we've always wanted to stay at the Giltar having previously tried quite a few of the hotels on South Beach - this hotel just screams quality from the rooms to the service to the food in fact the Eggs Benedict I had this morning Merritt a Michelin Star - know what hotel we will stay at if the subject of Tenby oops up in future
