Thank you to the Giltar for a wonderful weekend, had a refubished room with a seaview, nothing was too much trouble, everything was clean and tidy, friendly and efficient, a two minute walk from the beach and shops, cannot fault it, make sure you stay here!!!!

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for that seaview!

Booked this for my husbands birthday and we couldn't have asked for better. We had a refurbished room with a sea-view and it was well worth the extra cost - I could even see the sea from the bed. The service was friendly and professional - couldn't fault it. There was a wedding party in the downstairs bar but the waiter was more than happy to serve us with drinks in the lounge. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it. Bed was comfy and the room was small but cosy and beautifully decorated. My only small gripe was the shower - pressure was a bit low but this just meant I had to have a long lingering shower, which wasn't a chore as the bathroom was lovely! Would definitely stay here again.

My fiance and I decided to spend a weekend at the Giltar Hotel, as from its website it seemed really well kept and just what we were after. However after booking a standard double room with sea view, a week or so later we received confirmation stating that the room we were allocated was not refurbished as per the pictures on the hotels website. I found this incredibly sly as at the point of booking you get the impression that you are receiving a clean modern room. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with "dated" decor but when the carpet is pulling away from the walls, the wardrobe propped up on strips of off cuts of wood to balance it and the bathroom floor having more poor silicone repair work done to it than an aged Hollywood star, I have to draw the line. The sea view was also hardly what its name suggests as one could only enjoy this from the far corner of the room after deciding whose turn it was. When querying this with the receptionist on checkout we were "politely" told that we could of got a new "superior" refurbished room at a much higher rate and we got exactly what we paid for. Unfortunately at the time I felt that there was no room for debate and subsequently departed as a disgruntled customer who will never return to this hotel. However to end off on a positive note, the breakfast was good as was the restaurant staff.

Brilliant location, hotel very clean and tidy. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Booked a Sunday lunch - set menu with plenty to choose from. Lovely sun-dried tomato bread to go with starters. Cool 'garlic' mushrooms in a grey béchamel sauce, bland and not tasty. Friend had Chicken liver pate, which was the darkest I have ever seen, and had probably been previously frozen. Mains - roast pork and beef were OK, but again served on stone cold plates which made the meat and gravy only warm. The vegetables were slightly undercooked, not just al dente, unseasoned and served in very hot dishes. It was nice to have something that was hot! Didn't have any desserts for the first time ever! Would not return for Sunday lunch. Given that they were fully booked, I would have expected a much higher standard as in the previous reviews.

This was our second stay at the Giltar. This time as a birthday treat, even a birthday card awaiting me in our room! Both times we've booked Deluxe rooms. The rooms are furnished so beautifully,We felt an instant wave of relaxation as we sat enjoying a coffee gazing out of the window at what has to be one of the most beautiful views to be seen. In fact, it was a shame that the weather was so glorious that weekend as we didn't want to leave it! The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend a stay here, worth every penny and will always book to stay at the Giltar, we can't wait for visit No 3.

We would like to thank Malcolm and the staff of The Giltar Hotel for the beautiful Wedding Day that they provided for our son and his new wife. Everything went smoothly to plan. The rooms for the ceremony looked lovely, the ceremony was personal and very enjoyable and the reception meal was outstanding. Many of our guests stayed in the hotel and the rooms, service and attention from the staff were first class. We were blessed with gorgeous weather too, which just put the icing on the cake! I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are lovely. Refurbished rooms are worth the extra cost.

We stayed at the hotel for a family wedding and the service was incredible. The day was a total success and the hotel was the ideal venue. We were welcomed immediately and were attended to all day with smiles and friendly service. I would recommend the food as the wedding breakfast and evening buffet were top class. The room was clean and perfectly adequate although is one that is awaiting refurbishment. No complaints about anything at all :)
