“Terrible!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2013

The only positive thing i can say about this hotel is that it was clean, otherwise the hotel is very tatty and shabby. Don't think you will get a bargain by booking this place because this weekend we went on trivago and this was available for £75 per night, this was also without breakfast (additional £7.50p) when in fact we took a walk up to the large hotels on the front only to find that some of them charged £80 with breakfast included.
I don't often write a review and if i do it is normally positive but please don't waste your money.

Hi, Thank you for leaving this review and pleased that you found your room to be clean. I am sorry that the hotel did not meet with your expectations. The rates do reflect peak season and we do also offer Bed & Breakfast rates. Your friend did come down late for breakfast but I did supply him with a complimentary bacon sandwich (as he thought he was on a breakfast included rate). It was unfortunate that your friends also didn't advise us of their illness all in their bathroom which I cleaned up on the Sunday morning. Once again apologies for not meeting with your expectations. Regards Richard

Stayed at the Albay Hotel at the beginning of August.
A very warm welcome from Richard who could not do enough for you throughout your stay.
Food was very nice and the waiting on staff were very friendly.
The hotel is in a good location for the beach and town which was approx 5 minutes walk.
We enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Stayed at the Albany middle of August 2013. I agree with some people that the hotel does need a refurbishment, however Lisa & Richard are making the effort. The bar area and patio are lovely places to relax before going off into Tenby for the evening. The location is very good, only 5 mins walk to the centre and just the same to the beach.

For me the only disappointment was the breakfast. Tenby has wonderful local produce but the sausages were very cheap and tasteless. That however is nit-picking, you would be hard pressed to find better for the price

Room Tip: Lots of stairs, so not suitable for those who have difficulty walking.

Great Stay, Great Hotel Staff, Hotel Director Richard is brilliant couldn't do enough for us and was brilliant with the Children.

The room was big, everything was clean, beds were comfortable, always had plenty of hot water and Towels.

Dining area had beautiful flag stone floors, really nice matching tables and chairs and was probably the nicest part of the hotel

On the downside we were at the front of the hotel and the road is ridiculously noisy all night and all morning (Early Hours), with various deliverys heading into the centre of Tenby and the windows being ancient and single glazed it made no difference if they were open or closed to the road noise

The Breakfast was great although I would have liked to have chosen my own Fry Up rather than have the Chef stood there dishing up for me controlling portion sizes! One sausage was a bit harsh

The bathroom had a really bad smell coming up from the bath plug hole, and when we had a bath it would bubble up in the next rooms bath where my parents were staying, we reported this and Richard tended to the problem to try and solve the blockage, although we were still getting an awful smell in the bathroom and resorted to keeping bathroom door shut at all times so not to get the smell into the the main room. My parents room also had a leak and water running down the walls the ceilin was cracked and wall paper was damp and peeling in the corridor.

The 3 rooms we had access too were all in desperate need of redecorating, The silicone around the bath was awful and although clean the Silicone looked like it had been put on by a blind man and was almost black with years of ingrained dirt, it was infact white silicone at some point.

All the whites at the hotel such as doors, skirting boards etc were all yellow had not been painted in years

All in all we had a really nice time it was probably the friendliest most personal Family hotel I have stayed at, but also the shabbiest, so if you are willing to put up with this go for it you will not be disappointed

Those who like swish smart looking hotels will hate the Albany

HI, Many thanks for leaving your review following your 4 night stay. Really pleased that you found the hotel to be clean and friendly which I think are a couple of the main ingredients in a successful hotel.
I appreciate that there is an amount of cosmetic work that needs to be done and due to business levels much of this is scheduled to be done at the end of the main season.
Once again thank you for your business and comments and best wishes to you and your family.

Kind Regards

Richard

A very central location for the price. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The rooms where clean but tired and the whole place could do with a refurb. Overall a place to stay if you want a good value option to stay in Tenby.
