“Great guest house”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2012

Stayed at this guest house from 3rd to5th March is an excellent place. Marion and her husband are really lovely people and make you really welcome. Breakfast was of very high standard and the rooms were very clean and bed very comfortable would recommend this guest house probably better than hotels in Southport

On arrival we were directed into the spacious car park at the rear of the house, it is such a bonus to have off road parking.
We were invited into the reception hall and given a warm welcome and offered tea and coffee in the lounge, which was well stocked with information leaflets and maps of the area. There were also board games and other family occupations, obviously very family friendly. The bedroom was very well appointed with stylish decor and very comfortable beds. Plenty of hanging room in the wardrobe. The ensuite wetroom with hand rails was a real bonus and would have suited anyone who had a disability.
We were given helpful advice by the host as to local eating places, and directions for travel; most places being within the mile and half limit.Later we went out and had a good pub meal at a very reasonable cost.
A big plus the following morning was the excellent cooked breakfast we were offered as well as toast, cereal, juices, tea and coffee.
Altogether a very enjoyable stay

Room Tip: The ground floor room has been fitted out with hand rails and seating in the bathroom/wet room and...

Arrival what to expect: We arrived into an impeccably kept reception hall usherred into an ante room offerred hot pot of tea and buscuits with a run down of the main attractions in the area. First impressions:Genuine people who are obviously proud to serve and please their guests, pity they allow shoes on their well kept carpets. Our room was in the attic tastefully decorated - a four star ambiance in a quiet corner of Birkdale.
Breakfast and Hospitality: We are generally not breakfast eaters but we could not resist the allure of conviviality at the breakfast table all the other guests were repeat residents so it was like a family at meal time.
Saying Goodbye: My wife was resolved that if we dont go abroad at anytime this is where we should come -this quiet part of England where we can feel at home.
The town of Birkdale:Restaurant prices reasonable, next door to Southport an oasis of culture and quiet retreats. We have found a home from home.

Pleasant and polite welcome awaited us - with immediate offer of a pot of tea.
Room spotless and with modern decor. Hotel standard facilities.
Excellent breakfast, with locally sourced bacon, sausages etc.
Proprietors directed us to local restaurants/pubs for evening meal and were attentive to any requests.
Would not hesitate to recommend and will be happy to stay again.
Well done!!

My wife and I are disabled and found the accommodation very good, with parking, access to the hotel and en-suite wet room. The breakfast sets one up for the day and our hosts could not do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Southport with its micro climate is a place one can visit at any time of year and so much to do in the area and within an hours drive of the Lake district and North Wales. The local station is only 5 minutes walk and days out in Liverpool or Chester can add to ones pleasure. We so enjoyed our stay that we made a booking for our next visit, which cannot be soon enough. Thank you and well done.
Peter and Janet

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel can be affected by some traffic noise. Did not bother us.

With only 5 rooms but 1 disabled access (with Wet Room) and 2 that are almost self contained so greta for a family. Rooms provide all you need with a lounge area if required. Breakfast is superb with lots of choice & wonderfully cooked.
Close to Southport, Liverpool & Crosby. Birkdale vuillage is a 5min walk with plenty of eateries & shops for the essentials. We will return to stay next time in the area.
