We had a lovely night here, very relaxing with everything you could wish for at hand. We were going to a wedding evening do and had a lovely hot shower and a fantastic, comfy night's sleep afterwards. The breakfast was brilliant too - all fantastic value for money and with the "personal" touch. It was actually like being at home, spotlessly clean with all the home comforts - thank you.

A group of us stayed at the Birkdale Guest House on a recent golf trip to the area. I would heartily recommend this establishment to anyone staying in the area. The proprietors are a very pleasant couple, the rooms are clean and comfortable and it is only a five minute walk to the excellent restaurants of Birkdale Village. The Guest House has a very relaxed atmosphere and the proprietors know the local area well so can give good advice on where to visit, eat and drink. Breakfasts were excellent and cooked to order. All in all a great place to stay.

We stayed here for one night a couple of weeks ago in order to attend a family birthday celebration and after reading other reviews we knew what to expect. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed and offered tea and coffee in the lounge after our journey... A nice change from having to make your own in your room. As mentioned often by other visitors the place was spotless and well kept, with lots of thoughtful extras that just made so much difference. Our room was on the top floor, well decorated and a lovely comfy bed. We were given keys to let ourselves in after our night out and asked what time we would prefer for breakfast. As mentioned in other reviews there was a wide choice for breakfast and it all went down a treat! We would certainly recommend the Birkdale and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Just one teeny weeny request.... Our room although lovely and light and airy did have a skylight window which flooded the room with daylight from very early in the morning, didn't disturb hubby but I would have liked a little more sleep.... Perhaps a blind could be fitted? Otherwise - perfect!

Mr and Mrs. E. Holme

Received a very warm welcome at the Birkdale Guest House when we arrived for a 1 night stay.We were attending a party in Birkdale and decided to stay over after the event. Marion gave us keys for the fron door in case we were late and described fire and safety rules and also let us choose a breakfast time suitable for us. She also took the time to tell us about the local village which was about 8 mins. walk away.

Our room was clean and modern with en-suite and tea and coffee facilities and plenty of fresh towels. We arrived home later that evening to enjoy a quiet night in a lovely comfortable bed. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast. Fresh fruit and cereals and we tried the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon - delicious-. Nothing was too much trouble. We would stay again and recommend the Guest House to anyone.

Room Tip: I am sure every room would be well appointed and comfortable.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay, and let me apologise for this late response.
Guests who write positive comments do two important and one less important service for us.

First if they are happy then we know we are on thr right track.

Second. It allows us to correct any problems.

And the less important one is it makes us feel good to know we are doing a good job!

Thanks again.

My mum and I attended a family function at the Formby hall golf club and spa. They were fully booked and so I looked for a local guest house. What a find! This recently renovated guest house meets guests' every requirement, comfort and excellent service are assured. Taxi to Formby hall was only £6.00. Owner, Marian, was wonderfully welcoming and cooks an amazing breakfast. There is everything you could wish for on the breakfast menu, from fresh juice, yoghurt and fresh fruit salad to cereals, full English but I chose the scrambled egg and smoked salmon on a bagel. Wow, gorgeous.
We stayed in the room with disabled facilities on the ground floor, excellent large wetroom with modern facilities. Room had hairdryer, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits, complimentary good quality toiletries. The most comfortable beds, crisp sheets, fluffy white towels....it is a match for any top hotel room. I would not hesitate to stay there again, even mum was impressed...that takes some doing!! Don't hesitate to book, its worth every penny. Thanks Marian!!

Room Tip: The ground floor room with disabled facilities discretely caters for guests with a disability, even...

Thank very much for your positive comments and for taking the time to post the review.
We are pretty thrilled with the individual points you made as those details are not just accidents. We aim to base our service on our own experiences of staying in hotels and guesthouses and get rid of all those annoying little problems which add up to a bad stay.
So we made sure our showers were clean, had a constant supply of hot water and useable pressure. We also buy our meat from the local prze winning butcher who sources his pork from a free range farm in Yorkshire.
Once again thank you very much and hopefully we will see you again.

We stayed here for two nights as a Grand National weekend.
Birkdale guest house is about 11/2 miles from centre of Southport - but had a couple of pubs / restaurants nearby (5 min walk).
We stayed in a ground floor room which was very clean, tidy and nicely decorated with comfy bed. Our friends had a second floor room - which they said was great.
The owners were very friendly and were happy to share local knowledge - and served a great breakfast.
We have already booked to stay again next year !!

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor which was next door to the guest sitting room. Looks like the other gr...

Thanks very much firstly for taking the time to write the review and for letting us know we are on the right track.
We are a small business but apart from taking a natural interest in helping our guests we base our service on our own expereience of hotels and guesthouses. Hence, cafetiere coffee, showers that have pressure, are clean ( plus a constant supply of hot water), and meat supplied from a local butcher who buys from a free range farmer.
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again.
