“Birkdale B&B”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

My wife and I stayed here Wednesday and Thursday 19th & 20th June 2013. It was a last minute booking, in fact the web page showed it to be in use on those dates. Thankfully it was not and we stayed in the room for the disabled. The lift to the landing/entrance is of great assistance. There is a slight lip into the front door which is a slight nuisance to entry but not badly. The room itself is light and bright with two single beds which are awesomely comfortable. The previous night we had stayed at what was supposed to be one of the top rated hotels in Southport whose disabled room beds are really solid and uncomfortable to say the least. Given that hotel has a sea view, we were far happier with the B&B in Birkdale. I would say that the Vincent Hotel and this place are similar in quality. A difference in amenity's which explains the difference.
The food options in Birkdale B&B is good and my wife likes the food (which says something, full English ) I also liked the food (porridge and yoghurt). Top recommendation for B&B. No hesitation in recommending it at all. In fact a distant family member is coming to the UK for a family break and reunion and I have advised here as a good stop over for her. Facility's are good, place is clean, quality food and excellent conversation and advice on what is happening around and about.

Room Tip: If disabled ground rooms are available. Others are there for ambulatory guests. Back rooms are quitt...

Thanks very much for your review of our guesthouse. When we put the disabled facilities room together we tried as hard as possible to make it look like any other room and not like a clinic, and it appears we have done a good job.
Also it's no accident that we give our guests as much information as possible about the facilities around so they get a "feel" for the local area.

Once again thank you for your stay.

Comfortable and friendly, with a good cooked breakfast.

The rooms at the front might suffer from traffic noise, but we were in a loft conversion with a Velux window facing to the rear, so did not have a problem.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and we are very pleases you found our facilities up to standard.
With regard to your comment vis a vis the traffic noise. Although two rooms are on the front they have double glazing and thick old fashioned exterior walls which cut out the traffic noise very efficiently. In fact many return guests ask for those rooms specifically, so don't worry if you come back and stay in a front room!

Thanks again and hopefully we will see you again.

We had a lovely night here, very relaxing with everything you could wish for at hand. We were going to a wedding evening do and had a lovely hot shower and a fantastic, comfy night's sleep afterwards. The breakfast was brilliant too - all fantastic value for money and with the "personal" touch. It was actually like being at home, spotlessly clean with all the home comforts - thank you.

A group of us stayed at the Birkdale Guest House on a recent golf trip to the area. I would heartily recommend this establishment to anyone staying in the area. The proprietors are a very pleasant couple, the rooms are clean and comfortable and it is only a five minute walk to the excellent restaurants of Birkdale Village. The Guest House has a very relaxed atmosphere and the proprietors know the local area well so can give good advice on where to visit, eat and drink. Breakfasts were excellent and cooked to order. All in all a great place to stay.

We stayed here for one night a couple of weeks ago in order to attend a family birthday celebration and after reading other reviews we knew what to expect. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed and offered tea and coffee in the lounge after our journey... A nice change from having to make your own in your room. As mentioned often by other visitors the place was spotless and well kept, with lots of thoughtful extras that just made so much difference. Our room was on the top floor, well decorated and a lovely comfy bed. We were given keys to let ourselves in after our night out and asked what time we would prefer for breakfast. As mentioned in other reviews there was a wide choice for breakfast and it all went down a treat! We would certainly recommend the Birkdale and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Just one teeny weeny request.... Our room although lovely and light and airy did have a skylight window which flooded the room with daylight from very early in the morning, didn't disturb hubby but I would have liked a little more sleep.... Perhaps a blind could be fitted? Otherwise - perfect!

Mr and Mrs. E. Holme

Received a very warm welcome at the Birkdale Guest House when we arrived for a 1 night stay.We were attending a party in Birkdale and decided to stay over after the event. Marion gave us keys for the fron door in case we were late and described fire and safety rules and also let us choose a breakfast time suitable for us. She also took the time to tell us about the local village which was about 8 mins. walk away.

Our room was clean and modern with en-suite and tea and coffee facilities and plenty of fresh towels. We arrived home later that evening to enjoy a quiet night in a lovely comfortable bed. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast. Fresh fruit and cereals and we tried the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon - delicious-. Nothing was too much trouble. We would stay again and recommend the Guest House to anyone.

Room Tip: I am sure every room would be well appointed and comfortable.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay, and let me apologise for this late response.
Guests who write positive comments do two important and one less important service for us.

First if they are happy then we know we are on thr right track.

Second. It allows us to correct any problems.

And the less important one is it makes us feel good to know we are doing a good job!

Thanks again.
