“Great value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014 via mobile

We visited on Saturday 19th July. It was fairly busy. These units seem pretty old and are better suited to retail than food. Gives it an unusual layout.

The service was good, mostly staffed front of house by teenage girls.

We enjoyed a baked cheese starter, a pizza, carbonara and we both had tiramisu. With 3 drinks the total bill was £21.85. Great value for money. The food was lovely although we didn't order anything that should trouble a chef!

Would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your comments... I do agree with you about the layout of the place.., It is not a purpose built restaurant, but it has been adapted to a dining room since the late 50s when it was ''Truffles''( a famous French lady had it and , as its name suggested, was selling truffles), than it became a Mediterranean restaurant until 2007 when we took over. Someone told us that previously to Truffles, it was a famous bespoke tailor that was serving local nobility.
It was built in 1893 and its keeping some of the original features....is grade2 listed building.

Booked a table after reading all the reviews on here, we were not disappointed at all, the food was delicious, freshly cooked and very well presented. The friendliness and service could not have been any better. One definitely to visit again and again.

“One to recommend”

I went to Volare for a family birthday in April and was very impressed with the quality of food and service. Last weekend I met two people over from the Isle of Man and they were staying in Southport for two nights, and said they wanted to eat Italian. I told them to go to Volare, two days later I saw them, asked did you go? The reply was yes, one of the best meals had in the U.K. In fact much better the The Ivy in London which one of them had eaten at the week before ( must say I have always had excellent food at The Ivy)

“Lovely find”

After a day of walking we didnt want to go far from our b&b. We walked in and was told we had about an hour and half to eat as they were busy. Well we left 8,30 as food was great .we stayed for pudding, coffee and more drink. Local people were coming in. So good sign. Well worth a visit if your that way

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

We had family up from the south coast and opted for a w/e in Southport. A little anxious about booking a table, after the mixed reviews. However what a choice...... The restaurant was emptying as we arrived at 7.30 on Saturday so envisaged eating in an empty restaurant, it soon filled up, and was busy the entire evening.
Great menu, which suited a table of 4, one of whom is a meat eater, two fish eaters and one vegi. Actually spoilt for choice, the portions are huge. I won't go into what we each ate (everyone had a different dish for starter and mains) we thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the only criticism I had was that the pasta was slightly overcooked, definitely soft rather than al dente. Obviously family owned and run, lovely individuals, all extremely friendly and helpful when it came to ordering both food and wine. Also very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this restaurant we had a wonderful evening and wouldn't hesitate to return
