We had a lovely winter break here for to visit Southport and surrounding area. Our room was spacious with a lovely comfortable bed. Mark and Eileen were delightful hosts and the breakfasts were delicious. We were so pleased how central to the shops, prom and the railway station which we used to visit Liverpool and Manchester. We very much enjoyed our stay and we would definitely return to the Stamford and recommend it to our family and friends.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front but it was really quiet.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Southport for the air show.
The staff are friendly and guest house is big, light and airy and beautifully presented.
We stayed in room 4 which is at the front on the first floor with the bay window. Our room was large and the bed was very comfortable! Lots of storage space and a powerful hot shower in the en-suite.
The full English breakfast was one of the best I've ever had and the toast was especially good!
We were surprised just how central the guest house was even though we'd looked on a map beforehand; it's just a couple of minutes walk to Lord St and the Prom yet we still managed to get a really good nights sleep!
The next time we want to stay in Southport, my first call will be to The Stamford :0)

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for just one night essentially on the majority view from Trip Advisor contributors that it was excellent place to stay and we were not disappointed. When we were a little behind on our arrival time and the owner called us to confirm we were on our way which was a nice touch. Located in the town centre, the hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the sea front amenities. Utilising the free, although limited parking in front of the hotel, our welcome by the owner was friendly and pleasant. Our room on the 2nd floor was actually above our expectations being spotlessly clean and well equipped for the price charged (£59 B&B). The hotel was very well decorated and had a clean and tidy feel making it clear to us that the owner had put in a lot of effort to ensure the place achieved the best possible standard. The double bed was very comfortable and the large walk-in shower was gave one a sense of luxury not often found in what was in reality a seaside guest house. Breakfast offered a decent menu which included an excellent freshly cooked breakfast. Within just a couple of minutes walking are a good range of restaurants and pubs. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Room Tip: Arrive early to ensure free parking is available.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the guesthouse to be in a great central location. The whole guest house seemed to be beautifully decorated and our room was lovely.

Only small negatives we found; we couldnt pick up the free wifi in our room and the honesty bar was empty.

We managed to easily park on the guesthouse car park, which is a bonus as our friends were staying at a larger nearby hotel and had to pay for street parking! I was blocking someone in so asked if i should hand my car keys in just in case and were told no, as the couples whos car it was wouldnt b needing to use it. However, we bumped into the couple at breakfast who asked me to move my car as they were waiting to go out. So not sure how this would have worked if we had gone out and not left our keys?!

Anyway we wouldnt hesitate to stay here again, lovely and clean and in a great location!

The guest house is beautifully decorated, clean, tidy; the bed was comfortable and affordable prices.

However unlike many other reviewers we would not return for several small 'customer service' issues which, on their own are negligble but - when added up together - make for a disappointing stay:

Only one hand towel was provided, an additional one for the two of us came on request; both bath towels were very small. Only one little shelf in the bathroom to put everything needed.

We asked for a few additional things which, disappointingly, were not provided but we felt should have been, considering its 4 star rating, and because we stayed for a very long weekend e.g. no replacement of tissues, toiletries, bathroom bin not emptied, no alternative to tea or coffee provided, no spare electric sockets to use for e.g. charging mobile phones except by swapping over existing apps. There was a very strange wooden trolley for tea/coffee - no tray, no mat, and it wasn't clean or cleaned daily.

Fruit and yogurt only provided apparently for continental breakfast, but this was not offered as an alternative to the full English or similar. The cooked breakfast however was good.

There was hardly anyone around in the house during the weekend after breakfast so if you wanted anything we had to telephone the owner and, sadly, it seemed everything was almost too difficult to provide.

We were woken up 2 nights running by noisy street arguments and abusive language.

The Stamford was a joy; free off-street parking, spacious and exceptionally clean rooms, a fabulous breakfast that was provided at a time to suit....what more could anyone ask for?! Not only that, it was very good value, and our hosts, Mark, Eileen and Cathy were so helpful and friendly we could have happily moved in!

This trip was a blind date in Southport, as we booked at last minute and had a job to find any vacancies. So this was indeed a pleasant surprise to find this very recently refurbished to a high standard establishment with parking, it ticked all the boxes and some more. So we had a good nights sleep followed by an excellent English breakfast.
Will we go back most definitely
