Stayed here for two nights on the VIP package £140 for two nights bbem two adults two kids. Definitely true you get what you pay for lol. Plastic fruit basket
Was clingfilmed to death chocs were a pound from b and m across the road and wine was like vinegar. We were lucky enough to get two rooms which was a bonus with kids there joined by a bathroom that was very clean but ancient in much need of updating. The rooms were clean too but very shabby and we had opaque glass which blocked our lovely view of the kitchen. Was very warm and noise from kitchen constant especially as we had to leave window open constantly to let some air in. Food was not great with not much choice but was adequate enough to get us by although cutlery was dirty at times. Reasonable bar prices and entertainment was funny although I dint think his singing was meant to b !!! Overall it was an experience but not one I intend to relive , such a shame as I'm sure at one time it's been a lovely building but wouldn't know where to start with the updating to be honest

recently stayed at this hotel first the good very good value for money £65 BBEM and bottle of wine
good food but limited choice big rooms good value at the bar good reception good value carpark £2 over night stay good breakfast excellent chief very helpfull to my wife who is a celiac and was well catered for, clean bedding. Now the not so good very dated in need of modernisation grubby outside same as bedrooms dirty windows tables and chairs all over hotel looks more like a nursing home when you go in although nothing against the elderly (lovely people)asked for 2 large glasses of wine forget it one size glass only small think that sums the place up would i stay again yes but only after a complete refurbishment and modernisation.

we booked an executive room and emailed ahead to request a nice view (no reply), we were given a room with two small high up port hole windows over looking the chimney pot! we couldn't sleep at night because of the heat(no air con) and noise from nearby lift, we requested a move but they said hotel was full so I requested a fan, they said they would source one but never got!
buffet dinner was busy and options especially for fresh vegetables and desert were poor, apparently if you don't like the one gateaux on offer you need to ask the waitress and hope she returns with something......but she may not return at all!
Hats off to the lovely English restaurant reception man who's customer service was excellent.
all in all this hotel was aimed at the older age group especially coach parties, it was good value for money but not as good as other seaside Britannias that we have visited

Room Tip: make sure you request a room away from lifts and if you want proper window with view you need to rin...

This place is out dated I wondered were I was when we first walked in. The room was a good size but that was only plus point, stained wallpaper, filthy carpets, paint was peeling of the paintwork , dirty windows very grubby bathroom with black mould everywhere I would not even use the shower. The bed was the worst I have ever slept in.
Breakfast was like something out of Faulty Towers the crockery and cutlery were dirty, tea bags and coffee (no make) left on a saucer and the milk jug was rusty inside. I only ate a piece of toast and a boiled egg ( thought that would be safe as it was still in it's shell).
I would advise anyone to go to a Premier Inn than stay in this dump.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Ok so we had read the reviews and went to the hotel with a slight worry of what we would find! We had paid for a 2 night dinner, bed and breakfast a an incredibly cheap price and so are expectations were fairly low. The entrance to the hotel was very poor and run down and one look at it made us think we had made a massive error... Walking into the Lobby the queue of wheelchairs up the corridor and walking frames, with a slight whiff of lavender made us even more worried! However, reception was polite and well organised, the room was in the basement with no window however it was a good size, newly painted, spotlessly clean with a massive bathroom, shower and double whirlpool bath! Furniture was older fashioned but clean with no stains. Carpet was of good quality and bed was perfectly comfortable. We were somewhat relieved and very nicely surprised. The evening meal was fine for what we had paid and very good value for money. Nice homemade soup and choice I salads and poached salmon or pâté to start with a roast, potatoes and veg plus choice of curries, fish and rice. Apple pie, gateaux and a hot sponge pud for dessert with cream and ice cream. We rolled out of the dining room! Ok so it was plain, basic quality but was hot plentiful and good honest fair! Dining room was pleasant. We ate about 8 pm... Best avoid the early part of evening and a couple of coaches seemed to eat about 5-6.
Breakfast was the same, porridge, yogurt and fruit old a full English, toast and tea and coffee. Bar prices where fine and overall we couldn't really fault anything, baring in mind the price, what great value for money!
Only things that we could think of to improve at that price was if they tidy and paint the entrance and maybe consider selling fresh filter coffee at the bar or somewhere as the only coffee available was freeze dried powdered coffee!

This is an old hotel with ancient radiators and décor but spotless, with staff cleaning shelves, rails etc for much of each day. We had a five night stay, with dinner, bed and breakfast for less than £50 pppn. All food was well cooked though naturally got in a bit of a mess with all meals self service. For what we paid, the quality of catering was superb value. Service from every member of staff was willing, cheerful, efficient and always available. Rooms were very comfortable, well serviced daily and the beds more modern than most things here. We will certainly visit again.

FOR WHAT WE PAID, ABSOLUTE MAGIC. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL.

Mark and Eileen Warren.

Room Tip: All rooms very well appointed - our was a sort of family room, twin, with separate bed settee. Loa...
