Scarisbrick Hotel Southport
Ranked #19 of 23 Hotels in Southport

We paid £30 for a room. The room was dated, think floral explosions on curtains, walls and bedspreads! But the room was clean and functional so we were more than happy with what we paid for.

Ask for a quiet room though as it does get quite noisy above the bars - even with double, double glazing (yes, 4 panes of glass!)

Breakfast was an extra £5 pp but was rubbish. There are plenty of nice cafés to get a decent breakfast served by nice people rather than teenagers, who really don't want to be working there!

All in all, if you were going on a romantic getaway, then this hotel is not it. If you're looking for simply for somewhere to lay your head for the night then you can't beat it.

Having read previous reviews before booking I was aware of the noisy comments and I think it may depend on your room allocation as to how bad it is - we stayed in 216 right over the Avenue bar which rocked on till easily 3am. The walls seem paper-thin as we also overheard a rather passionate 15 min session!

The hotel is old fashioned in style and features and is also being refurbished - given we only paid £40 for the night I would rate as ok - the room was clean but basic, light on towels and shower not overally powerful.

The receptionist on arrival was polite and friendly which is more than can be said about the male waiting on staff at breakfast - both were miserable and seemed any request was too much like hard work. Food was good, buffet style only niggle personally would have preferred fresh toast.

The hotel is bang in the middle of the town centre surrounded by pubs, clubs, shops and restaurant so noise is inevitable however it is excessive and spoils what few attributes the hotel is. Lastly again due to location, parking is extremely limited if you want it free, however they offer £2 a day at nearby sister hotel or there is a pay and display just behind the hotel for £7.50 for 5hrs.

Perfect location, clean room well worth the money. Stayed for one night had a good stay, the bar was like a nightclub at night which we were surprised about but really good fun. The woman behind the reception needs to smile once in a while though, miserable girl! Everything else spot on. Defo go back again.

Just returned from this hotel after having a short break with National coaches the hotel is actually being refurbished and the new lounge is very comfortable however the room we got was not good the shower didn't work and never got fixed for the 3 nights we were there the bath was dusty and dirty and the tiles were disgusting I know we only paid £85 so don't expect 4* but do expect it to be clean the room was exceptionally noisy as we were facing the street where all the night clubs were now on the good points the staff were lovely and the meals were aswell couldn't fault it I wont be going back again I will go to the sister hotel the Prince of wales we have stayed there a number of times and much better than the Scarisbrick.

Room Tip: Don't get room 315 and ask what rooms face the night club.

had a lovely 4 days at this much improved hotel nice room good self service food and close to all amenities. the staff worked hard and were helpful. the only downside was a 730 breakfast due to 2 national coaches and 2 other coaches from Scotland . all in all a nice breakaway.

Room Tip: low floor rooms at back seemed the best option

just returned from a 4 day stay with national holidays and I must say its worth a visit. most of the hotel has been modernised and decorated which makes it an ideal place for a short coach holiday. the downside was with having 4 coaches at the same time mealtimes were a wee bit hectic as too many quests to feed and not enough staff. give the hotel a try its improved big style .

Room Tip: low floor at the back is the quietest

This hotel in my opinion is equal best in the Britannia stable, it is in a great position, close to the railway station but unusually with it's own car park.
Our room was very clean, in a pretty good decorative order, with more than adequate heating and hot water.
The restaurant fare was better than most Britannia hotels, the restaurant chefs were friendly and helpful, with Tom preparing a fresh fruit salad daily for my diabetic wife; the breakfast being especially excellent, there is of course the ever present queue when the coaches are in. But they've even got that sorted by taking room numbers and calling you when your table is ready!
As I say in the title, this is one of the few hotels I have stayed in where the bar is worth visiting, they have up to 9 real ales and a real cider on offer, the Barons Bar also features in Camra's Good Beer Guide.
The staff on the whole are friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, ours was at the back overlooking the car park, but even the car park was quiet...
